Today in Hong Kong, we saw the running of the Chairman's Sprint, a leg of the Global Sprint Challenge. Chautauqua went into the event as the favourite, but was expected to do it the hard way. Few can win at Sha Tin if they drift back in running. The horse had previously contested the first leg of the challenge when he took on the Black Caviar Lightning at Flemington in February. The first clip below is that race, the second, today's Chairman's Sprint. He's now probably England bound.
That's fooking ridiculous, coming from that far back to win a race like that, and in the end he did it cheekily, just hands and heels towards the line. Monster. Thanks for posting Cyc
Thanks Cyc. How can that much ground be made up in a sprint; and round the outside? Were the others donkeys? What was the time like compared to other races at the meeting?
1:8:69 Ron. The standard Group time is 1:8:75, so it wasn't too bad. If he hadn't come via "the cape" on the turn, he probably could have chopped some time off that time. And he stumbled out of the barrier. The race was littered with G1 winners.
