I'm trying to decide whether to go to The Valley or stay in and watch the egg-chasers. What do you think?

Oxford have a new manager which is always a bad omen. We should be far too strong for them. Let’s see where we are at 5.

Should be a comfortable home win. If we continue with our current average of 37 shots per game off target, one will go in eventually.

Mavidi, Kaikai & Zyco look a decent loan line up at this level if they can stay fit. The rest is all background noise.

Let’s see where we are at 4.50pm tomorrow.

That's a strong first XI and a decent looking bench Robinson has named today. If Charlton don't win this game there should be serious questions asked.
Hopefully we will see a positive, dominant performance as well as a win.

seems to be a positive vibe about the place. Marshall is very poor, but apart from that we're doing okay

Positive atmosphere but a somewhat disappointing first half. Charlton were on top and played some decent attacking football, but chances went begging.
Oxford hit the crossbar but only got a couple of other chances in.

I think we should still win this, as I believe we still have more to give whereas Oxford are about as good as they are going to get. But somebody needs to bust the net... Fosu perhaps.
Attendance is up a bit I think, maybe 7,500 or even 8,000 home fans in?

I thought Oxford were the better team first half. We must improve.

Better team won, no question. Oxford were better organised, closed us down better, and were more dangerous. Scored three good goals, hit the woodwork twice and were more up for it!

No lack of drama, that's the best I can manage.

Going forward we now look truly scary, though still goals are not coming as easily as they should to match the pace and movement of our build-up.
But we could not consistently defend against determined but pretty standard counter attacking play. That weakness cost us very dear today.

A gutting defeat after a match with many positives in my view.

Robinson is a hot air merchant.

He’s had every excuse & every mitigating factor under the sun, but the bottom line is we still can’t shut the black door against very ordinary sides.

It’s not just Duchatelet in his final few weeks at Charlton.

Zyro looked a cut above this level and could be a real asset. Kai-kai was booed on, and looked pretty average. DASilva was exposed for being lightweight but whoever was supposed to be helping him out on the left side didn't. When you are beaten by a side of average players who are better organised you have to wonder about the coaching.

Robinson revealed after today’s game that Mavidi has done his hamstring. They are not sure how serious it is yet, but it’s in the same area as the injury that finished his season early last time.

Started a defender they wanted to off load before Karlan went out on loan. That’s when I knew there was trouble.

We had a very good transfer window, and on paper we have ‘addressed’ our squad depth issues, but today we still looked a side that was without intent, despite going in to it in the play off picture. Dropping Aribo was short sighted, and wouldn’t be surprised if he’s evening questioning his future.

Poor day, result and performance. Even when in front it was never convincing.

I thought that chance creation (good attacking moves) was our strength yesterday, but unfortunately goals are still not coming easily from those attacks.
Granted we did score twice, but too many of our good chances did not even demand great saves in the end to deny them.

Without an assured and prolific goal scorer, the confidence that bred all those good chances may not last very long.
    Our lack of a leading goal scorer is undoubtedly affecting our ability to compete;

    Top + Second
goal scorers ... Team (listed by league position)

    15 + 12 ... Wigan
    11 + 9 ..... Shrewsbury
    12 + 12 ... Blackburn
    11 + 8 ..... Scunthorpe
    13 + 7 .... Rotherham
    12 + 6 .... Bradford
    7 + 6 ...... Charlton
    24 + 11 .. Peterborough
    15 + 7 .... Portsmouth
    10 + 7 .... Oxford

I know having one or two high scoring players does not always guarantee success,
but Charlton are also the joint 2nd lowest scorers in the top 10 (along with Shrewsbury) on 39 scored.
The difference is Shrewsbury have a GD of +18, whereas we have +3.
In the top 10 only Portsmouth have scored fewer than us (36).

Equally seriously though, our inability to defend against bog standard attacking teamwork must be corrected.
Perhaps it was an imbalance specific to that game, which KR won't allow to happen again. I certainly hope that's the case if we want to keep within touching distance of 6th place.

Tarique Fosu had an eye for goal before he was injured, Perhaps he can find that touch again.

Definitely not. A rotten egg, similar to Tony Watt (who has predictably faded into footballing obscurity).

It might be safe to give the lad Willis some 1st team action - Duchatelet has run out of time to sell him.
