The highest they can finish will be 8th providing they score 17 goals and Leicester lose. Bristol city were hoping to give the home fans something to cheer about in the last home championship game of the season but a James Vaughan hat trick for Huddersfield left them leaving like they have all season, Upset and disappointed. They will be playing their part in league 1 next season. A bit off track here shiny but I watched many games at the Valley Bowl of the early sixties but never saw City play there. I used to work in Woolwich and passed nearby the ground most days, and in those days it could hold upwards of 60,000 who were mainly standing on the huge east terracing. Went to see Charlton play Chelsea in the FA Cup and some reporter noted that people were stood in places where sheep could usually graze unhindered. Ah the memories of my youth.
I quite liked the look of Charlton's ground when I tried to find photos. I always stick with Duncan Adams though as it gives the best view. Nobody has gone for a city win yet :/
He does his job quietly, does the dirty work well, but his tag was a `box to box goal scoring midfielder` I haven't seen any of that at all, he plays just in front of the back 4. I think he will do well in league 1 though
I spent February 1963 in London on a training course for the insurance company I worked for. This was the year of the big freeze when snow fell on Boxing Day and didn't finally disappear until almost the end of March. But it wasn't quite so bad in London as the rest of the country so there was always a football match to see at the weekends. Charlton v Bury with Bob Stokoe at centre half for Bury - Second Division. That is the reason Mike why you did not see City at the Valley as we were in Div 3. I saw games at West Ham, Fulham and Arsenal twice v Bolton with Francis Lee and the North London derby against Spurs. The kids around the front fence were scooping up handfuls of snow and throwing snowballs at the couple of coppers on duty. They just laughed and threw a few back as well. Those were the days!!!!
Charlton manager Chris Powell has no new injury concerns ahead of the visit of already-relegated Bristol City. Captain Johnnie Jackson and fellow midfielder Andrew Hughes miss out with hamstring strains, but the injuries are not believed to be serious. Sean O'Driscoll has a number of injury problems as Bristol City prepare for their final game in the Championship. Strikers Steven Davis and Jon Stead are doubtful after picking up knocks in recent weeks and could miss out. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head ⢠Bristol City were going through a torrid time when Charlton visited them in November. A goal in each half from Danny Haynes and Michael Morrison gave the Addicks a 2-0 win and took the Robins's losing run at that time to seven games. ⢠It was the second time in six league meetings that the West Country club were beaten by Charlton. ⢠The south-east London club last completed same-season home and away league victories over Bristol City in 1991-92. Charlton Athletic ⢠A seven-match unbeaten run (W4, D3) and three-match winning streak at home has come too late for Charlton, last season's League One champions, to make this season's Championship play-offs. ⢠No club has won fewer home matches in the Championship than Charlton's seven, and no club has lost fewer away than the Addicks's six. Indeed the majority of their points have been picked up on the road (35 of 62), where they have won nine. ⢠If on the field from the outset, 22-year-old defender Chris Solly will be making his 100th league start for Charlton. Bristol City ⢠Wooden spoonists Bristol City would clearly like to gain a first win in nine league outings and end an 11-match winless sequence away from home, before they return to League One after six seasons at the higher level. ⢠The Robins have mustered fewer wins (11) and suffered more defeats (26) than any other club in the Championship, keeping just six clean sheets and failing to score in 16 matches. ⢠Former West Ham forward Sam Baldock, who needs a brace to reach 50 league goals in his three-club career, could also make his 100th career league start.

Hi Shiny, not unexpecged really was it bearing in mind our respective seasons... Had a nice little punt on Cardiff at 12/5 as Hull looked a bag of nerves against us and haven't scored for 3 games - how ironic that Campbell should score...
