Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Michael Morrison is on the verge of joining League One big-spenders Charlton Athletic. The 23-year-old, equally comfortable at right-back, is expected to join the Addicks shortly as manager Chris Powell's 11th signing this summer. Powell is eager to strengthen his defence with Simon Francis linked with a move away from the club and Carl Jenkinson having already left for Arsenal. Morrison has only been at Hillsborough since January, but does not feature in Gary Megson's plans. The Owls boss is eager to move the defender on and the move to The Valley now looks very likely. He started his career at Cambridge United before spending two-and-a-half seasons at Leicester City.
