If you want to know why this club is failing it's because on and OFF the pitch we have complete turdmunchers refusing to accept that this club is turning into anal puss. We have a board that is looking to sell us off in pieces, a manager that has all the tactical nous of a jelly baby and the real piddle in the punch bowel is we have fans that refuse to accept it. Why? Why are charlton life closing Powell out threads, why has he not got the sack? Why is Powell not being criticized? Why aren't the fans protesting at Roland's recent I'm gonna sell you out speech? You can see how people get radicalised now by the lure of being invited to be a trust member! What are they going to put in their magazines next week?. A cut out Chris Powell arsehole to wear on your face.
I actually feel sorry for proper 3rd to 5th generation Charlton fans like yourself Typical. If you think about it your core support isn't much different to ours - 6-8,000 south Londoners. However, since you started looking to Kent for floating, middle class football fans in the 1990s & their flirtation with being a PL club you've been diluted with the post Euro96 crowd, which make up the other half of your support these days. You can visibly see these two different dynamics of your support actually fight it out on Charlton Life in various threads, especially whenever we get a mention. You can bet your life it's your new breed of fan quickly reassessing their opinion of CP..while YOUR traditional support are probably rolling their eyes. Anyways, the moral of the story is be careful what you wish for...looking at Charlton I can sincerely say I hope mILLWALL are never that successful that we start attracting idiots from Sidcup etc to our games just cos they can watch Arsenal for cheap!
You make some valid points, TC, but at least we Charlton fans can take the merest crumb of comfort from the fact that we are not Millwall. No offence intended, of course.
It all started with shopping for fans in middle class kent areas....with the free flyers having the slogan "come watch Beckham, Henry and Ronaldo at the valley" !!!, we even bussed them in for a fiver. Shame the tossers are still here. Glad you picked up on this though, everyone else can see it, but not your own.
The other forum has picked up on the story that Chris Powell could be the new manager at QPR. They are quick to wish him well, and they state that he will be a massive success at Loftus Road because, in reality, he really is an excellent manager. You see, Charlton Athletic has been a burden on CP's career and we should all be thankful that he has put up with us for so long. I wish QPR all the best.
Bizarre. TBH, I thought you were exagerating Typical, but no, there are indeed a fair few anti Powell threads, all with the word Closed at the bottom. Just what I think we should be doing on here. Cut the bickering out, get everyone stood in nice straight lines, and on the count of three, we all sing 'For he's a jolly good fellow'.
They do it so as not to clutter up the forum with loads of threads on the same subject. The notion that CL doesn't allow criticism of Powell is wrong. Read some of the threads post today's game and you'll see some. The difference between those who support Powell and those who want him to go is whether or not you think the mistakes he has made are enough for him to deserve the sack.
That's not true. Charlton Life will allow numerous threads ( particularly from the holy trinity) on loving Chris Powell and have allowed just one thread on dissing him, when the nazis return home after waiting hours for an autograph and asking for used toilet paper from Chris, they will quietly delete and edit some of the posts. If you took out the word Powell and replaced it with any other word like Parkinson for example, or any other name would there be a debate? PC and double standards keep that clown in his job, it can't be talent or ability.
Read the explanations for closing the threads. That shows that it is the reason why they do it. The threads of love for Chris Powell don't come about all at once after victories in the same way threads calling for him to go do after defeats. Having just one thread doesn't mean less discussion about whether or not she should go. We've been over the supposed 'PC keeps him in the job' line before. RD is the one who decides whether or not he stays, not the fans. If he thinks he can get someone else in to do a better job, he will, and he's shown before that he will make unpopular decisions if he thinks it's in the club's best interests.
This is book burning. If you have a forum you don't sanitise it, you let it go, let's it take the life of the masses, let's the voices be heard. You don't bookmark it, nor do you condense it in one thread. The reason many people don't post on that thread, is because it's so long that their points get overlooked, which is the intention of the moderators. It's quite clearly subtle editing. The nazis did much the same thing so did the churches, you appear diplomatic but your not really.
As if you know what the moderators are thinking. And continuing to compare the moderators on Charlton Life to Nazis is a bit OTT, don't you think?
Having been married twice, I know what it is like to live under a fascist oppressive regime. The moderators act like nazis, they delete posts, they will edit posts, they will ban anyone that steps out of line, and does not follow the mandate of the party. That is fascism. They try to maintain an air of democracy and will keep the rebels posts on one tangled thread hoping that the sheer volume makes the reader bored and confused. It's not a forum, it's an temple.
If that's what you think, then fair enough. I disagree, but we'd just be going round in circles if the argument continued so I'll leave it there.
