Has anyone seen the items being sold on Charlton Life? There is one item I would really like to get my hands on, but I'm not a member of the site and I fear it may be sold in the near future. I want Lot C, the Sam Bartram Saves The Day book, and it currently has a price of £10. I'd be happy to pay a lot more than that, so if someone with a CL account could bid for me, I would be most grateful and there would be a drink in it. Ta.

Thanks for the great posts, AllHell. I already have Mike Blake's superb book. I'm always on the lookout for football memorabilia, particularly sticker albums, so if anyone wants to sell, feel free to contact me. My basement is slowly turning into the alternative Football League Museum.
A must read for all Charlton fans.... http://espnfc.com/columns/story/_/id/1025378/the-mavericks:-sam-bartram?cc=5739
That ESPN thing is very good, thanks AHLL. Almost unrelated but I picked up Andrea Pirlo's autobiography over the weekend and have just finished it. Only 150 odd pages but very interesting and very articulate. Not sure how much of it was written by him or by the ghost writer but it's really wordy too, a nice treat! Here's an extract, about taking a penalty in the 2006 World Cup Final against France: "Caressing the ball was something I had to do. I then liften my eyes to the heavens and asked for help because if God exists, there's no way he's French. I took a long, intense breath. The breath was mine, but it could have been the manual worker who struggles to make it to the end of the month, the rich businessman who's a bit of a sh*t, the teacher, the student, the Italian expats who never left our side during the tournament, the well-to-do Milanese signora, the hooker on the street. In that moment, I was all of them."
Have you read Zlatan's book, Kish? Pulls no punches and full of one liners such as ''why would Guardiola buy a ferrari to only go and drive it like a fiat''. Just finished Red Nev's and will purachase Pirlo's before getting on the train this evening.
I haven't but perhaps I should - I'm between jobs for the next month or so, so I've plenty of time! Ponders, any update on your writings?
Plenty of updates, Kish, but I prefer to keep a low profile. Let's just say I no longer have to save for the gas bill and am able to split my time between Constable Country and Germany. The free travel and expenses of research trips are nice, too. Ponders End is, at times, a world away. So, why are you between jobs at the moment? Are you looking for something to do during the interim?
Nice one, that sounds very positive! My agency role ended and I'm waiting for the HR/DBS checks etc before I can start my next role; should take another 4 weeks or so (or at least until the Snooker finishes!). I'm hoping to use the time to start writing again though, maybe finish a short stroy collection that I've been threatening for years now... Are you still on the same email? flyingmonk etc?
