Charlton fans sent to jail

6 Charlton fans were given sentences raning for 6 - 18 months for signing songs on a train glorifying the murder of Stephen Lawrence.

Whislt i'm certainly not going to condon the actions of these bloody idiots and don't actually have any sympathy for them I can't help but think that this is a bit excessive. Surely they'd make a better contribution to society by doing community service.

Does this mean that anyone singing songs about the holocaust will automatically get a 6 month sentence? The prisons are going to be pretty damn full........

No but it was a black homosexual horse so the attack was both homophobic and racist.

 

The Justice system has probably got it right for once.

That's such a rare occurrence that the sentence seems severe. That's the problem though, it is usually laughable or outrageously lenient punishments which are reported by the Meeja.

We have become so used to seeing ****s like these get nothing more than a slap on the wrist that when a fitting sentence like this is handed out we are surprised by it and are fooled into thinking they may have been hard done by.

This should be a benchmark for sentencing, unfortunately it won't be.

 

6 months gaol for singing an offensive song? What would you do to shoplifters?

 

I don't know, it depends upon the severity of the offences commited. I would judge each case on it's merits.

 

What merits? Nicking stuff from shops is the offence. Surely a victim crime outweighs the victimless crime?
