Date: Sunday, 4th October 2015 Kick-Off: 12:00pm Please note fans reading this, there no train service to Charlton on Sunday. You will need to make alternative routes to The Valley. Apologies for missing the last couple of games, albeit "I did have a very nice holiday and worked up a bit of a tan," said Guy Luzon in his latest press conference. "But now it's time to pull things together and win us a match" he retorted to a mouthy overzealous wannabe journalist drunk on Super Tenants when he was questioned on his future at Charlton Athletic. This is probably the views of quite a few fans at the moment, along with thoughts of "what the **** has happened since our start in August?" We head into this game against our West London opponents without a win in six matches, one of them a defeat in the Captial One Cup against rivals Crystal Palace. Our fans patience appears to be wearing thin and a defeat on Sunday could result in players being boo'd off the pitch. The Opposition Kit Symons' team make the short 13 mile trip to The Valley for this Sky televised fixture. Fulham themselves have had an indifferent start to the season and are currently two points better off than us, the main difference is over the last four games, Fulham have shown some signs of improvement, whereas we have been heading in the opposite direction from our fabulous start in August. This week they have managed to extend the services of Middlesbrough defender James Husband, and are looking to bounce back after losing 3 - 0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers, though spending most of the game with 10 men. In recent weeks they smashed local rivals Queens Park Rangers 4 - 0, with some class play from Ross McCormack, Ben Pringle and Moussa Dembélé. Needless to say, they have a team with plenty of Championship experience and would prove to be tough opponents; a team that we could do without playing against at this moment in time. Current Form Whilst our current form looks horrific, it seems that we are slightly better than Fulham are away. They seem to concede a lot of goals, but with players in the team like Ross McCormack, Matt Smith and youngster Moussa Dembélé they are scoring quite a few goals. Head-To-Head Whist it looks pretty even, it has been over 11 years since we last beat Fulham, our last win coming on a cold December evening in 2004, goals from Jerome Thomas and Talal El Karkouri. Since then, the best we have mustered are two draws. Club Updates: Guy Luzon's Press Conference Line Up Currently on the injured list is Stephen Henderson, Simon Makienok, Cristian Ceballos, Igor Vetokele and Reza Ghoochannejhad. There has been no news about such players are I would be surprised if any of them are in the starting line up. We do see the return of Franck Moussa and Johnnie Jackson. The skipper is much needed on the pitch, but frustratingly (especially to some fans) being unable to get into Luzon's starting 11. That in mind, I'm predicting the following: please log in to view this image Odds There is very little difference between the two teams from a betting perspective, each yielding poor returns, however, the bookies are backing the home advantage this Sunday. League Table & Fixtures Outcome Given our current list of injuries and lack of experience and depth in our team, compared to Fulham, I think that this is going to be a mauling. We're playing Fulham at a time where they are picking up confidence and looking to bounce back after a Wolves loss. If we're not on game, we could see us shipping quite a few goals. With results going against us, we could see ourselves come the end of the match heading into the relegation zone. Needless to say, I'm still going to turn up and support my team #COYR #COYA
Does anyone feel as deflated as me about this game? Some will think it's negative behavior, some will argue they follow their team no matter what - but right now my motivation is lacking horribly for this match. I'm bringing a Danish contingent with me as we have meetings on Monday. The club were accommodating when I wanted to switch my ticket for one match, though I don't think seats will be a problem. Whether Vetokele plays - who they want to see - I've luckily mentioned that's unlikely. Who knows what charlton will turn up. I can't see a win, but live in hope. I think they have too much creativity in midfield for us to handle. O'hara and Cairney are two of the best midfielders in the division, in my opinion (sorry for the rhyme). 0-2
We beat Fulham 2-1 in Pardew's first game in charge. Oh wait, fvck that Lino. Bloody trains not running makes this a real nuisance so I'll be driving, but that all depends on how heavy Saturday night is. 1-3
I can't see us winning.......................perhaps we'll scrape a draw?.......................maybe we'll get lucky?....The Ref could be a homer (for once).................Fulham may have a bad day...............but the TV cameras are there............heeeeeeeeelp............ i don't know ................................................................confused, of East farleigh
If you consider that a rhyme, I am glad you are not Poet Laureate. O'Hara is not that great. I would take Cousins or Kashi any time. But they are not left-footed. O'Hara, however, is a square peg in a square hole there, allowing Cairney and Pringle to rampage. Edit: I forgot that Cairney starts a three-match ban after a straight red card against Wolves in midweek. That's a help. I was mightily impressed with Fulham against QPR and shocked they then lost 0-3 to Wolves, until I realised they only had 10 men. 0-2
I'm deflated too Super. On the upside, we got half-time cheerleaders. It appears that Buddha granted my wish, as it annoys the girl that I sit next to, and that brings me a bucket load of joy!
I can't understand the girl who sits next to you China? Our Chief Exec is a woman and held a meeting for 'Women in Sport' (at the Valley) last week so surely she wouldn't have authorised anything that is sexist would she?
Nope, but like I've sometimes stated, "being a b**** does not equate to feminism.' If dancing makes them ladies happy, I say "let them dance"
2-0 down at halftime, come out a bit better and get one back from a corner, but our inability to break teams down means Fulham hold out.
I'd prefer Duchatelet and Meire out chants tbh. Although his tactics and team selection have been questionable recently, he hasn't been given adequate tools for the job which is not his fault.
I'm giving this one a miss completely in favour of going for a roast in Greenwich. I expect us to lose.
Everyone out chant? I'm now debating on going, I've done a bit of partying and I'm "meh" to getting out of bed
Well my bet for today is Fulham to win 2-1 (@9/1) and McCormack to get first goal (@11/2) will return £650 on £10 Sky cameras and poor form will just be too much for us
Could be a dire attendance today Going to Charlton under this regime has become a chore. During the week I watched some old DVDs from the 80s. Not the best team by a mile, but players like Gritty who had an affinity with the Club and its fans. Back in those days you would not have missed a game for anything. I have zero interest in the quality of our pitch, the improved catering, or the sofa gimmick. I just want a Charlton team you can feel an affinity with.
Compare and contrast: Bolder. Pope Reid. Solly Humphrey. Fox Thompson. Diarra Shirtliff. Bauer Peake. Ba Shipley. Karshi Lee. JBG Stuart. Cousins Melrose. Watt Pearson. Makienok How many of the players on the right will we look back on this fondness in 30 seasons time? Sort of sums up the problem.
It will be a dire attendence today, the only thing that could raise it is the away end. Fulham have subsidised tickets and are bussing fans in for £5 with kids free.
