Charlton lost their eighth game of the season against Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday where they suffered a 3-1 deafeat. It must be a worry for Addicks chief Guy Luzon as five of their eight losses have come in their last seven matches. Luzon's side are one of the lowest scorers in the league they have netted just 26 times in 29 matches, scoring just twice in the calendar year. Top scorer Igor Vetokele has failed to find the net since November. Despite their lowly position of 19th in the Championship table, they have a pretty good home record with 20 of their 33 points being gained at the Valley. Norwich got their play-off ambitions back on track Saturday when they saw off bottom side Blackpool 4-0 at Carrow Road, Gary Hooper bagging a hat-trick and Nathan Redmond scoring a 'worldie' free kick deep into added time. City thrash the Seasiders at Carrow Road The Canaries have lost just once since new boss Alex Neil took charge last month winning 3 of his first five games in charge. They have kept two clean sheets on the trot something that they have managed only once before this term. Gary Hooper now has five goals in five games and will be hoping to make that six in six if selected. Sebastian Bassong must be a doubt after sustaining a back injury against the Tangerines, but other than that Alex Neil should be able to field the same side as last time out should he wish. Guy Luzon's Match Preview No Manager's Preview Available Alex Neil's Match Preview Whatever the outcome on Tuesday, Neil will not make any bold statements regarding his side’s ambitions for the rest of the campaign. “We’ve got 17 games left, and we’ve got to go and win as many as we can,” he said. “If we don’t win the next one, then it doesn’t mean that we’re not going to be there or thereabouts, but equally if we do win it, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll go on and challenge “We need to make sure that we build a consistency, and first and foremost that performance levels are at a good level week-in, week-out.” Alex Neil expects Charlton Athletic to provide stubborn opposition when the two sides meet in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday Current Form Charlton Athletic: LLDDL CHARLTON ATHLETIC HOME Charlton have scored 1 goal or less in 14 of their last 20 home games, going on to win 1, draw 8 and lose 5 of these matches. Apologies folks that the thread is not as comprehensive as normal but with a full time job it's difficult to find the time to research mid-week. Anyway, tomorrow night's match is a difficult one but I'll stick my neck out and say that we'll win by the odd goal. OTBC ....CTIINWT
I was just thinking it's going to be an almost 'full-time' job for the rest of this month with so many games coming up. Great thread though!!!!
Brilliant thread KIO I will have to check Wednesday morning as kick off is 3:45am but I'm predicting a 3-0 win .
Superb KIO once again. I'm with you on the slim 1 goal margin - 2-1 to City for me. Might stay up for this one as am on 'half term' break.
Found a bit of spare time in my lunch hour so I've added some more stats' and match history to the OP
Guy Luzer's Preview isn't available because he can barely speak English. He would like to give a clue as to how he's setting the team up but unfortunately he is clueless. So the only certainty about tonight is : Charlton Athletico, sorry Charlton Athletic 0 Naarwich 2 or 3.
You should win by 2 clear goals. You're in my acca - if we're going to lose I at least want to profit off it.
I'm not so sure SN - a win for us and a defeat for them might mean, with a decent goal difference change, that we get back into the play-offs, but I think I'd rather see a Brentford-Watford draw and then we beat Watford on the 21 Feb. Ideally, this would be combined with a defeat for Derby, or at least a draw. To really top it off, if Blackpool could arrest their current form and wrestle a point or three from Middlesbrough... Then the table would start to look quite healthy for us! Imagine this: Blackpool 1 - 0 Middlesbrough Bournemouth 0 - 0 Derby Brentford 0 - 0 Watford Charlton 0 - 3 Norwich Huddersfield 1 - 0 Wolves Ipswich 0 - 0 Sheff Wed I know you could do that for every week, but something close to that could actually happen (although now probably won't...)
I'm hoping Binners lose and we get a foot hold in the play offs then wait for the teams above to slip up on a regular basis.
Its going to be tighter tonight than you think. Charlton have been a bit of a bogey team for us in the past and they have only lost 2 at home so far this season. I can see it being 0-0 or 1-0 either way. We do need to win this one though so I hopefully we'll just edge it and revenge the defeat at Carrow Road.
Yes, I like the team selection and wise to rest Wes. Also think that Tettey has a bit more to his 'armoury', but a bit less trickery than Wes.
It's a good strong away side with lots of attack but a bit more balanced than last game which is good. Just sat down at the valley as Declan Rudd broke a hole in the boards behind the goal with a powerful shot.
Charlton with no win in THIRTEEN games ................................... ..........................Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear oh dear oh dear
but KIO, this is the sort of stat that usually (usually I say) bites us on the arse. I hope we are not on the end of a 'resurgent' Charlton. BTW, any streams out there anyone? I've looked but not found
