Date: Saturday, 28th November 2015 Kick Off: 12:30pm Arrive early, as the 2% will be searched. The cynical side to me holds this view, despite the recent successes on the field, the issues with board and management remain. It seems that they'll do everything to quell the #JeSuisDeuxPourCent majority and save face in front of the sky cameras on this televised fixture. The mysterious outgoings of Tony Watt with the news that we will not be receiving any more fresh recruits has left a few fans baffled, combined with probably the the longest serving "interim" head coach in footballing history, has left many bitter and angry. On the pitch, two weeks have turned around our fortunes with a convincing win against Sheffield Wednesday and Johnnie Jackson saving the day for three points at St Andrews. Despite what chants and/or banners which will be displayed from the stands this Saturday, many of us are hoping that we continue our form pushing us further away from the perils of league one. The Opposition Mick McCarthy's men are certainly hoping that a trip to Charlton is a way to rejuvenate their promotion campaign. They currently sit six points off play off spots, which a win in this early fixture would see them move to seventh place. Ipswich themselves would too need to shake off their own camera woes, as they too have a pretty poor record, having failed to win their last eleven matches on Sky. Having remained undefeated in five matches (albeit three being draws), a win at The Valley could see them build on and push further up the league. Current Form ** Statistics based on previous five league fixtures For all the goals that both of the teams can score, we can certainly leak them. Neither of the teams seem to be outstanding at the moment. Ipswich currently seem to be ahead in the form table, given that they are now unbeaten in their previous five matches, however three of them being draws. Head-To-Head Over the last two seasons we've not had much success against Ipswich Town. In our last five encounters we have managed to concede ten goals and scored only two. We faced Ipswich the exact same time last year, again a fixture played out on SkyTV, only for Bob Peeters men to be sucker punched in extra time from a Noel Hunt goal. The last time we beat Ipswich was during the Chris Powell era, with goals from Johnnie Jackson and Ricardo Fuller to secure us three points. That seems like now an eternity ago. Club Updates: Head Coach Press Conference Line Up We might see the return of Chris Solly, but I don't think we're going to see Ricardo Vaz TĂȘ starting just yet. Think we'll see a similar line up to Birmingham. I would suspect something similar below: please log in to view this image Odds There's very little between the two teams in the odds; the bookies are slightly favouring Ipswich which it could be down to mere league standing. I'm thinking a draw might be the safe bet. League Table & Fixtures Outcome Despite out current form, I think we're going to slip up on this one. Ipswich have been unbeaten in five games, and combined with the fact that we rarely win when we play on Sky, it's going to come back and haunt us; 0 - 1 Ipswich. Despite my prediction, still Back The Team, Hate The Regime! #coyr #coya
I'm fed up with seeing Mick McCarthy mug us off, but I'm afraid he'll do it again, we can't keep relying on Jacko to dig us out of a hole. The usual 0-1.
Think you're right re the line up. The only temptation might be solly for fox, moving THD to the left. I can see this going 1 of 2 ways. Either they win 0-1 like last year. A good open game. Or I think it may well be drubbing to them, a 0-3. I think it depends more on what Ipswich turns up being honest. Plus, the sky curse. Obvs.
Don't really drink around Charlton. Either Blackheath, Greenwich or uptown. I'm quite in the mood for booking a table at ZeroDegrees for 8pm. Have a slap up meal and enjoy the micro brewed beer.
Holmes Dennis has been very impressive so far, as has Lookman. Makienok hasn't won a header, really poor in the air for a giant.
