Charlton Athletic v Bolton Wanderers Friday 18th April 2014 3pm Kick-Off Referee: Brendan Malone (Wiltshire) The Easter Weekend isnât usually looked upon as a busy / congestive period in a fixture season especially when you compare it to the Christmas period where you can be playing three matches in a week yet for the second time this season Christmas come once more for Charlton and their fans, sadly I donât mean that there will any gifts from the opposition or referees⦠Instead if you include the Barnsley fixture on Tuesday evening it means that the Addicks will once again be entering a Holiday period with three games in just one week and so we come to the second of our Easter matches against fellow strugglers: Bolton Wanderers In terms of reunions this Weekend you have to look no further than Striker; Marvin Sordell who is currently on loan with Charlton from Bolton of course in historic terms you canât forget the influx of Bolton players into one of Charltonâs most successful periods including Claus Jensen, Mark Fish and Andy Todd. 21.12.2013 â Bolton Wanderers 1-1 Charlton Athletic The previous match this season at the Reebok was also played just prior to the Christmas fixture period and was a tight affair that was played out⦠Yann Kermorgant scored early for the Addicks only for Kevin McNaughton to score just before half-time meaning that the points were shared. Last Bolton win at the Valley You have to go back to 2005 for Boltonâs last victory at the Valley⦠a 1-0 win courtesy of Kevin Nolan, for those looking for a bit of divine help then theyâll be pleased to know that since that defeat Charlton have won all encounters at the Valley winning 2-0 and 1-0 in 2006 (one match being in the Carling Cup) and then 3-2 (coming back from 2-0 down) at the end of March last season Charlton Team News The big news coming out of Sparrows Lane is that Rhoys Wiggins is out for the season with another broken foot that should mean a League Debut for Morgan Fox who has deputised on the bench in recent weeks yet am sure will have to deal with competition from Harry Lennon, Loic Nego and Cedric Evina for that position. On the other side of Defence is the Right-Back slot which appears up for grabs⦠Chris Solly safely came through 70-minutes against Barnsley midweek so we could see another start for the two time Player of the Year, failing that Lawrie Wilson is ready to fill in at Right-Back once more. Of course with Jose Riga having trouble deciding on his best attack there is one player who wonât be appearing and that is Marvin Sordell⦠currently on loan from Bolton Wanderers he is ineligible as per the terms of the Loan Agreement between the two sides (more fool Bolton) Possible Side to Face Bolton Wanderers Hamer Solly â Morrison â Dervite â Fox Cousins â Poyet Wilson â Ajdarevic â Jackson Ghoochanneijad Substitutes Bench Thuram â Wood â Nego â Petrucci â Harriott â Church â Obika A4Lâs Prediction: 2-1 (Wilson, Morrison)
Fraid its just a basic Match Preview from me today as I've got a bit of a hectic Easter Weekend coming up... Will try to get one written for the Sheffield Wednesday match but if one doesnt appear tomorrow evening then I wont have had time to do it... If I do write and it comes a bit more gibberish than usual it will be because of the alcoholic beverage type drinks (Going to see Welling v Luton tomorrow) I've gone for Solly and Wilson today because I reckon Riga was holding back on Tuesday (Dont know why he would have chosen Barnsley to do it) and will go for it a bit today... Will be equally surprised and will feel sorry for Morgan Fox if he doesnt start today (Unless we try a 3-5-2). Either way have a great Easter Weekend all... Over to Captain Blackadder for the Match Updates
Quietly Confident that we will score today.... not necessarily outscore Bolton... but we'll certainly score
I think you've got the team right, A4l, although the bench makes pretty depressing reading. If Astrid can last most of the game we've got a chance, albeit a slim one. I'd rather see Pig on the bench than Church, who just seems to get less and less effective, if that's possible. 1-1.(Jacko)
Afternoon all Charlton: Hamer, Wilson, Fox, Morrison, Dervite; Poyet, Cousins, Jackson (c); Ajdarevic, Ghoochannejhad, Church Subs: Thuram-Ulien, Wood, Nego, Hughes, Green, Petrucci, Obika Bolton: Bogdan, Ream, Wheater, Mills, Hutton, Spearing, Lee, Trotter, Danns, Jutkiewicz, Beckford Subs: Lonergan, Robinson, Knight, Kellett, Hall, Iliev, Baptiste So Fox comes in for Wiggins, The Asteroid is back, and so are Reza and Church in what looks like a 4-3-3. No Solly at all as Wilson reverts to RB and Nego is on the bench. Morrison is back in for Wood in central defence. COYA!
So Church returns to the starting line up again? What does he do in training to keep reappearing in the starting XI ? Someone on here suggested the team selection is done by drawing names out of a hat. I don't agree, but it makes you wonder. NOT my ideal starting line up, though better than tuesday I suppose.
Just voted in the POTY with my fellow Vols If the CE clipboard is anything to go by, one player is miles clear already
Church and Sordell CLEARLY won't score us goals, just give Pigott or Polish Pete a go. I can't see us winning this one, but then again I'm always pessimistic!
We're under way. Charlton attacking the Jimmy Seed Stand in the first half. Just realised that today is Morgan Fox's home debut. All the very best to him.
Then, straight down the other end, Fox puts a great cross in after a cross-field ball from The Asteroid which Church just glances wide.
