According to the SLP we have missed out on signing Gary Gardner after he opted to joining Coventry over us. Dissapointed as I feel this would have been a good shout. The article also expressed doubt over the Harper deal too.

Gutted about Gardner- apparently the more talented of the two brothers. But it wasn't for footballing reasons, it was for georgaphy(don't know if it says that in the story as link won't work, just what was repeated to me).

Well it makes sense, a local Championship club vs a London L1 club.

Thought he would be interested in chasing honours.. Does well in jan, gets the loan extended and perhaps win a medal.

But perhaps being a bit hard as a bit disappointed we missed out. everything suggests he is going to go on and be a top player.

Except that it looks like Coventry are going down and we're going up

Although I can understand not wanting to move too far away from home.

Gonna have to learn to move around the country at some point though, not going to be very successful if he sticks around the same part of England for his whole career...

...cue a load of comments giving examples of players who have only ever played in London/Midlands/West country etc <laugh>

haha shot yourself in the foot there WWOCB - Gary Neville / Paul Scholes / Ryan Giggs all instantly spring to mind.

Even though you only mentioned London / Midlands / West Country you have to get one smart arse who decided to go Mancs :)

I don't think we should take this too personally to be honest. I doubt very much that his was decision was down to comparing the quality of the two squads and choosing. I imagine it was much more to do with the quality of opposition he can test himself against. In which case, he definitely made the right decision.
