QPR striker Charlie Austin could face injury spell after Bolton win

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9139146/

QPR were left anxiously assessing a shoulder injury suffered by Charlie Austin following their 2-1 Sky Bet Championship victory against Bolton at Loftus Road.

Austin carried on after several minutes of treatment and put Rangers ahead with a header from Matt Phillips' 40th-minute cross.

Rangers' 15-goal striker eventually had to come off in the second half, by which time his team were 2-0 up courtesy of Karl Henry's 20-yard strike.

"Charlie's got a problem with his shoulder and we don't yet know the extent of it," explained QPR assistant boss Kevin Bond.

"He had to come off after going on as long as he could. In the end it was too much for him and we'll have to assess it.

"He's as game as they come and got his goal from a great cross by Matt Phillips.

"We know we're reliant on Charlie and didn't need reminding."

No doubt just nursing his sore shoulder, but this shot of Charlie is a bit Anelkaesque?

If Charlie is out for a bit, and all else fails, I wonder if we can recall Tom Hitchcock and pair him up with Johnson or Zamora.....or TF come in for Jordan Rhodes?

his other shoulder was already heavily strapped. the collective groan wascso loud when the physio signalled he had to come off. fair play to him for carrying on.

Not good at all, we really are pretty desperate to strengthen the squad.

This may translate to Tonz having to dig a little deeper into those pockets for some short term gain, not to mention what we hope to achieve by seasons end.

Ok.. a little silver lining....This happened on Tuesday 28th Jan....3 days before the transfer window closes...it could have happened on Sat 1st Feb... when the window closed.

There is a little time for manoeuvrings...

So today we will hear that the shoulder is Ok...so as not to show that we are DESPERATE!!!! But I suspect it is not OK
We will buy someone we weren't expecting to.....Ross McCormack? and recall Hitchcock....BZ was not very exciting last night.

I hope that this is the little bit of luck we need

If the photo of Ntep is to be believed then we've already signed the striker who can come in and play from the off.

Rather he play alongside Austin though, and wish him the speediest of recoveries

On the other side, if we had got a move on with our transfers our 'new' striker would have been available and we could protect our top scorer and take Charlie off earlier ensuring the highest probability of him being fit for Saturday.

We are in with a great chance of promotion, we can't rely on Hitchcock to deliver goals. We need someone who is proven to get us over the finishing line.

Most worryingly AJ recognised the seriousness of Charlie's injury straight away and indicated that he would need to come off. It was surprising that he carried on beyond half time, though I fear that it may be quite a serious injury.

Bring back Hitchcock. Whilst I acknowledge his inexperience at this level, he and AJ would run at defenders and cause them heaps of bother. We would have to change our style a bit as neither are great at heading goals, both vertically challenged. We'll need Kranjcar and Carroll to thread passes through that both could run on to rather than rely upon crosses in to the box.

If we don't get anyone else in, I don't see much alternative, would prefer Hitchcock to relying on BZ.

I prefer to be positive and trust it is not that serious. Surely he would not have gone on playing, especially after half time, if it were that bad. Sounds more like he was taken off when he was to save him for Saturday, but what do I know - I didn't see too much on the stream, and not the knock he got.

Agree. I was concerned that being the hero and staying on might mean a longer time out. I suspect he is made of stern stuff. Good man.

His shoulder 'popped out' according to an article in the Standard. Amazing then that, after it was popped back in by the medics, he carried on and scored the vital goal. Are we finally witnessing the birth of a new QPR legend up front after such a long gap since Gallen and Furlong?

Wow, apparently its agony to get it popped back in, the bad news is its more and more likely to happen the more you do it.
