As many of you may know, after scoring Austin ran over to the bench and held up a shirt with the number 24 on it. I was perplexed by this as I'm pretty sure most of you were. Sadly, I have since discovered that this celebration was done in the name of a young QPR fan who passed away in her sleep the night before. Her name was Alice Brooks aged 24. Hence the holding up of a shirt with the number which represented the age that she died. She apparently won the shirt in a competition but sadly passed away suddenly before she could receive it. please log in to view this image RIP Alice Very sad news in which two of our fans have passed away in the past week as Charlie mentions here............. In the excitement of a goal celebration, she was remembered. I'm always impressed by Austin's humility and appreciation of fans and he did well here. I too was unware of the background when he raised the shirt and when he mentioned the double loss in his post-match interview (thanks Nines). An apt tribute to a tragic loss. RIP Alice.
What a really nice gesture by our "brickie", who is leading by example to lay the foundation to help develop our club into a permanent member of the Premier League.
Spot on.....THis man deserves all the adulation he gets and if he gets a bigger club then he deserves it. This is what a role model should be....
A beautiful young lady Life can be cruel at times and makes me feel sad regardless of the great game and result
Well done to Charlie & the club. RIP Alice. Thoughts are with your family & friends. A horrible time for all of them, but I'm sure that in time a gesture like this will be of help.
So sad , but a real hero is Austin and deserves all the credit he is getting. Tragic to say the least
RIP Alice. Austin once again showing what a top pro and all round bloke he is, I'm running out of good things to say about him!
RIP Alice - my thoughts are with her family A very nice and thoughtful touch by Charlie - agree with previous a role model that kids can look up to and want to copy in attitude and skill.....
A slightly unusual thread. A young girl of 24 dies yet nobody mentions what caused her to die at such a tender age. May she rest in peace
Great gesture from Charlie & well done to the club to honour the memory of fans. Deepest condolences to the Brooks family; forever R's
In his OP Nines mentioned this:- Charlie's gesture was obviously much appreciated by her family:- Amy Brooks - Thank you Charlie for doing that for my baby sister. I know she would have loved to witnessed it in person. And I know she will help you all in future games and be watching always as she is always with us https://www.facebook.com/OfficialQPRFC
