Been going to City for 40 odd years. Got into a row with a steward today. Anyone know what that was all about? Copper ended up sending the steward away and appologising for whatever happened.
There were 2 in the first half too. Exactly what we didn't need at the moment with everything that's going on.
Dunno about that, but I like to get hold of the idiots who lit the flare! What a fcuking stupid thing to do when we are about to try and persuade a judge that we are peaceful law-abiding fans!
What's wrong with lighting a flare? It's an established part of fan culture in most European countries and has been for decades.
It's against the law in this country, that's what's wrong with it. The issue is that stupid act could ruin things for 2,500 fans that want to go to the Huddersfield game. Fcuking selfish idiots!
@Tigerfan11 @gmpolice a massive thank you to the officer in Hull end at Bolton who got the overtly rude steward in front of wheelchairs to sit down !
The flare was right next to me, proper stingy eye next to me, though I do actually quite like the odd flare going off. They're not in any way dangerous, but they do stink and the Reebok now has a nice pink stain on row K.
Firstly, thats a different issue. The law right now is as it is so the act of two or 3 idiots could cost a massive number of other fans from going to the Huddersfield game. Secondly, it's not part of OUR culture, and never has been to use flares and after what happened at Bradford it is never rightly to be.
Thanks for that. I had to laugh when after a long chat between Charlie and the OIC, the copper marched over to the steward and ordered him completely away from the City fans and then went and had what looked like a heated argument with the chief steward. Well done GMP.
You Hull fans appear to be developing a reputation. Maybe it's about time your tickets were restricted and fans were only allowed entry through official coach travel from now on..........
The incident was just to my right. I didn't see any trouble beforehand and thought the stewarding and police reaction looked ridiculously heavy-handed. Incidentally did anyone travel back on train via Manchester? We were forced to wait back at Horwich Parkway station by the police who insisted on segregating both sets of fans - even explaining we were only travelling locally within Manchester didn't help. Seemed another OTT reaction to me.
I was quite a bit away from the problems. But i'll just say: 1) I have never seen someone removed from a stadium who isn't fighting against the stewards/police. I imagine they normally have a pretty good reason for being chucked out. It is rare to see someone cooperating with the police get thrown out. 2) You may say that they should let fans just 'get on with it' and have a good time etc... but plenty of kids go to these games. The police and stewards have a duty of care, and if some idiot is causing trouble then I don't see a problem with them being chucked out. I travelled back from Horwich Parkway, but I headed North, and got straight on a train about 4:50. There were a few City fans on both platforms, but saw no trouble.
Tiger Travel tickets booked, with my packed lunch, flask and blanket. (But no, I support the boycott )
