Austin - who has scored 18 goals in all competitions so far this season - has been voted Supporter's Player of the Year by the QPR fans, with over 33 per-cent of the vote. The 24 year old was also named Ray Jones Player's Player of the Year by his team-mates, as well as winning the Kiyan Prince Goal of the Season award for his stunning strike against Charlton Athletic at Loftus Road in November. Junior Hoops supporters also voted him as their Player of the Year, to complete a remarkable clean sweep for the former Burnley front-man. Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, the R's top-scorer said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be honest. “To win all four awards is really special. I really didn’t expect this in my first season, so I’m eternally grateful to everyone who voted.” Thanking the fans, he added: “I’ve managed to strike up a great relationship with the supporters and I’m ever so thankful to them for the awards. “I just give everything I can every time I go over that white line – and every fan likes a goalscorer and luckily enough I’m one of them!” He added: “The Player’s Player award means so much to me. “These are the guys that I share a dressing room with, train with, travel with and play alongside on matchdays, so to get their vote is incredible. “I owe them for this award though, because without their help and support – both on and off the pitch – none of what I’ve achieved so far this season would have been possible.” Elsewhere, Tom Hitchcock has clinched the Daphne Biggs Young Player of the Year award, as voted for by the R's faithful, following a campaign which saw him enjoy success on loan with Crewe Alexandra and Rotherham United, as well as scoring a crucial last-minute winner against Ipswich Town on his Hoops debut. Last but by no means least, disabled fan Richard Ireland has been named Supporter of the Year, in a season which saw him travel the length and breadth of the country to watch his beloved R’s, attending every single first team fixture. The trio will be presented with their awards at the R’s final home fixture of the season against Wigan Athletic tomorrow night. It's a bit of a sad indictment that the young player of the year has played about ten minutes for the club.
Charlie can be the biggest hero on Monday night by banging in a couple. Top striker and clearly a top bloke too. Fan's favourite.
Well that makes a mockery of that twat giving him abuse on twitter. Not that we didn't know that anyway.
The most important part of that article is not related to a professional footballer who gets paid Thousands £££ to play for QPR. Read about the supporter of the year at the bottom of the article. That is true dedication for a disabled fan to spend all his spare cash to see our team play every single game up and down the country. I know the lad personally and he is a true gent and a loyal R. That type of commitment is what makes me proud to be part of this club.
Who else could you pick ? and he is a long way from being a finished player Why fans can't see that Austin cost us points I know not Dreadful misses against teams IMO Henry for me although he hasn't had that many games followed by Green Tells a sad story when two defensive players look the best IMO We were solid to start But never had any teeth up front Austin is a good centre forward but not in the class of the forward players who finished above us or that Leeds lad We choose to hate and love the wrong sort of players IMO
Well he certainly earned us 3 points in this match last Nov 23rd against Charlton that we both had the pleasure of witnessing. Interestingly he scored a very similar goal for Burnley, also against Charlton. Not a bad asset to have in your locker? At all levels he has scored 194 goals in 306 appearances - not bad for a bricklayer?
