We had an excellent start to the season then we had forced defensive changes , today we had the opportunity to revert back to what most people would regard as our best starting line up . Sorry but Luke O’Nien is NOT a central defender so he should have been back to his role in the right wing back position and Flanagan should have been recalled to the left of our back three . Flanagan is a much better defender and we miss the running and power that O’Nien provides as right wing back compared to Gooch who in my opinion does not offer the same level of determination. Sorry PP but I think you called it wrong let’s play the side that got us off to a good start rather than trying to put square pegs in to round holes , you might get away with it once but I am sure Portsmouth sussed us out and it cost us dearly .

Today’s selection of O’Nien at CB shows me that Parkinson is grasping at straws. Admittedly the lad had a great game when he had to fill in but he is not a CB.

For me we just didn't turn up as a team, nothing at all to do with Onien playing left centre half. Most of the team had shockers, the midfielders especially.

We does he continue with his fairy tales in squad selection. So he (O'Nien) had a decent game against a clueless Crewe Alexandra. He should have put three proper centre half's in for this game and reverted him back to RWB. Gooch is not a WB as well, round pegs, square holes spring to mind.......

He didn’t have a good game today and that’s the point I am making he is willing to do anything for the the team but he is not a centre back and was also missed in the midfield which is where he should have been , due to him being sent off he will also be missing from our midfield on Tuesday , come on PP play players where they are best suited . Or is it just me that thinks this ?

I think the lad will have forgotten how to play in centre midfield before long.

Agree totally. But none of the goals were his fault. First was Leads poor pass and Gooch being 40 yards too far up the field and second was poor from Hume. Third the lad ran in front of him and dived. When the ref blew I honestly thought he was booking him for it. Agree he shouldn’t be there when everyone is fit but I thought Willis looked way short of fitness. Which is why I couldn’t work out dropping McLaughlin who has been excellent last 2 games. I’ve back Parkinson but he’s completely flummoxed me today!!

Overall it was a poor performance contributed to by having an unbalanced team against one of our promotion rivals , against some teams you may get away with it but I am sure that Portsmouth will have done their homework in fact you know they will have . Please ensure that we learn from it and put it right at Rochdale on Tuesday and put this behind us , let’s have a balanced line up injuries and suspensions reacted to accordingly .

Not sure what I would do on Tuesday with Onien out. Obviously Flanagan comes back in but McLaughlin does do it for me as a right wing back as he has done as a right centre half.
