Just browsing through others sites and noticed an article stating that all our squad are fully fit ahead of the Riverside game. Good to see all thirteen are ready to go again.
Hm! Not the most popular thread I've written by the looks of it.Perhaps I see things from a different perspective to many on the board. It's become apparent that Malky,to coin a well known phrase,"Is not for turning" when it comes to team changes, but have a read of this article and the comments by Saturday's wiley old Boro manager, and how he sees the role of strikers as he approaches the run in: http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/boro-f...ay-is-backing-boro-s-strikers-84229-30690914/
Bob, does that thirteen include our prolific striker OG? Due a goal I reckon. Interesting read and wise words from Mowbray. Our recent form certainly seems to highlight the perils of running players into the ground. I still don't understand why we haven't mixed things up a bit.
there's a bit of tumbleweed blowing about at the moment. Partly the avoidance as a result of recent spats and a bit of holiday apathy to boot. hoping for a Reading win today to keep Leeds off our tail. Burnley beating brighton would be good as well. Can't decide on the Watford v Blackpool game though.
Try these stat then: Championship player most appearances this season Southampton - Not one in the top twenty Reading - Not one in the top twenty West Ham - Not one in the top twenty See a pattern emerging Cardiff have three players in the top twenty appearance stats.More than any other team in the division. Now if a strategy works, which it seemed to in the first half of the season fair enough, but if it is seen to be failing then it should be changed.I can't ague with a winning formula,it's a losing (relegation) formula I question. Remote! Watford? How could we possibly be worried about Watford? Didn't we decimate their team at the star of the season?
Hoping for 4 home wins to stop the pack above us getting too far ahead. Although a Watford Blackpool draw would be better, don't want Watford getting too close.
Telling stats ITIWRAN. As you say, why worry about Watford? I assume keepers were up there as you often get a keeper play the whole season. Who were the 3? Miller, Cowie, Whitts ? We'd have the opportunity to rotate some of those as We have some cover.
Championship Manager of the Month for March: Winner Brian McDermott Reading. No surprise there. Runner up Nigel Adkins Southampton. No surprise there. Third place Sean Dyche Watford. Hang on didn't we take the core of their successful formula from them?
Amendment: Just for clarity my player appearances stat refers to outfield players.Burnley have used three but this includes Lee Grant.
Sorry remote he was indeed a Smoggie. He was with Malky last season on loan. Now I've blown a gasket I think I need to relax.
OK, I'll give you that one. Put your feet up with some chocolate! Just reading this http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...w-taylor-joining-cardiff-city-91466-30704445/ . Sounds as if Taylor is another than can play in midfield. Ledley and Whitts both started as full backs and moved forward. Perhaps we could push him to left wing and put Darcy on the left or swap Kev over. Just do something different MM.
i just had a look at our squad on wiki, and i reckon 15 are good enough, and the rest are either crap or youth.....i'd say as it stands another 5 players at least are needed, and those who go in the summer will need to be replaced. not cheap, and not easy to find say 10 players who are going to come in and improve us on a reasonable budget...
I'd say you aren't far off there swamp. 1 for 1 to replace players that move on together with a few extra bodies of appropriate quality.
