Dear forum members, as 2025 gets underway I wanted to take the chance to thank you all for your inputs over the last 12 months and also open up the opportunity for you to give any suggestions / critique / recommendations to make the forum a more enjoyable place. You can either do this openly on this thread or by PM to me. I would like to encourage more posters and maybe also get new posters interested in Horse Racing where possible. Maybe we should have a Q&A or FAQ thread for those who might happen across our forum but don't have in-depth knowledge of the sport? I know some of you miss the "discuss anything else" thread but I had the feeling that it had turned into a rather pointless criticism of the whole political spectrum (depending on individual posters and their leanings) and there is enough of that on General Chat already. Also I think any general chit-chat is more than welcome on the relevant daily thread, no matter what the subject is. With the daily thread being very quiet on quiet racing days this could be a win-win situation. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks
Cheers Oddy and Happy New Year to you and all Agree 100% about keeping politics off the Forum (even though it was I who started a dedicated Politics Thread in the first place ) One thread we used to have which became quite amusing was a Get it off your chest thread. Some of the things Famous came up with used to crack me up. Obviously it would have to be free of any polititical or any other provocative posts I wondered about one liners but as you have indicated, the odd one could be slipped into the daily thread Just had a look back at some of the older articles under Horse Racing Forum Main Index. Interesting range of topics that seem to have dwindled
Given the world of social media and WhatsApp etc, it is remarkable this place is still going. Keep up the good work, and I will contribute when I get something to say.
How about a 'Cheltenham Chat' or 'Cheltenham Chatter' thread??? We have the excellent 'Cheltenham Bets' section but nowhere to really go and highlight something Festival focussed, to have a good old moan about the meeting, to monitor stats/trends or to discuss the latest things Cheltenham Festival related. If successful you could even branch this out later in the term to include Aintree, Punchestown, Royal Ascot, 'Glorious' Goodwood and York.
