    In the past, the FA and other football powers-that-be have opposed;

    a) professionalism in football,
    b) the abolition of the maximum wage
    c) the entry of English clubs into European competitions
    d) the entry of the England national team into the \World Cup

    etc. etc. etc.

    Things we take for granted today have not always been so and may not always be so. We can never say never! Even the die hard traditionalists in the FA accept this, sooner or later. There may be rules, regulations and laws against certain practices and procedures today, but who knows how things may change? For instance, the rules may prohibit the sponsorship of clubs but it wasn't so long ago that shirt sponsorship was prohibited. Now it is the norm. All it takes is one small step.

    Whilst I am not pro anything that may alter the fabric of the game we love or the club I have supported for over half a century, one lesson from history is that we can't accurately predict what tomorrow may bring. We may rant and protest (quite rightly) against anything we wish. We may threaten to burn season cards, we may vow never to go through the turnstiles again, we may argue among ourselves till Hell freezes over but if change does happen we either learn to accept it or we become consigned to a footnote in history.
