I'm assuming MK Dons includes their time as Wimbledon? Yes would settle for 17th now (but probably because don't want to go through what happened last year)
To be honest you would take 17th spot after the last three or four years,BUT this is different we have improved our management team and we have improved the squad. I have said in previous threads we will be a dark horse this year
Hope you're right RR. If we can be a team that is hard to beat, we'll be okay but unless we add some steel to the centre back position, we will continue to be vulnerable. The other problem is what happens if Stead gets injured or simply has no service? Goals have been hard to come by and without him firing, we're going to be thin at the front.
I agree with Tampa - not quite sure where this sense of optimism is coming from. Every summer we sign a few new faces and there is a sense of excitememt and assumption they will improve the team. Last season we leaked goals until we brought in some cover at CB - we're back to square one there. Last season we struggled to score goals and have lost 3 strikers and brought in none. None of the players brought in has any history of scoring a reasonable number of goals. I like DM but at the moment I can only see a rapid loss of this new-found confidence once we start to see the quality of the opposition in real, competitive games. The Champonship looks tougher than ever. The bookies make a living out of predicting the relative positions of teams and are usually there or thereabouts. They have City as 3rd from bottom if you look at the odds as they stand. I hope we don't get off to the same kind of start as last season cuz if we do it will be hard to look at the squad and see genuine reasons to be optimistic that it will pick up.... SL has really tightened the puse strings and Del is not going to find it easy this year I fear.
