Further to the article for the Championship team of the season so far http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/99404-Article-Team-of-the-first-third-of-the-season!!-Football-Southampton how about we try to build a variety squad. This squad of 24 players must feature ONE player from EACH Championship team. We need 3 Goalkeepers 7 Defenders 8 Midfielders 6 Strikers Perhaps we should build the team gradually. So let's start with your Goalkeeper nominations. But remember to be careful with your nomination. For example, if you want Ricky Lambert, Erik Huseklepp or Carlton Cole to be in the squad it will eliminate Kelvin Davis, Steven Henderson or Robert Green. So think ahead Squad, as picked by you, the posters: GK David James - Bristol City Julian Speroni - Crystal Palace Robert Green - West Ham DEF Ricardo Rocha (Portsmouth Liam Ridgewell (Birmingham) Sol Bamba (Leicester) Jack Hobbs (Hull) Jason Shackwell (Derby) Inigo Calderon (Brighton) Chris Gunter (Nottingham Forest) MF Adam Lallana (Southampton) Jacob Butterfield (Barnsley) Peter Whittingham (Cardiff) George Boyd (Peterborough) Keith Andrews (Ipswich) Gary Taylor-Fletcher (Blackpool) Jimmy Kebe (Reading) Robert Snodgrass (Leeds) STR Billy Sharp (Doncaster) Marvin Emnes (Middlesbrough) Marvin Sordell (Watford) Charlie Austin (Burnley) Lukas Jutkeiwicz (Coventry) Darios Henderson (Millwall)
Henderson has been outstanding since Asdown was dropped. Made 2 of the best saves I've seen at Fratton, 1 against Barnsleh and Forest.
Well the rules of the game say that one Pompey player has to be nominated, so if our Pompey friends believe that Henderson has been their best player (or at the very least, one of their best) so far this season, then who are we to argue.
I'm not sure who to pick from Pompey, out of Henderson or Rocha. For anyone who doubts Rocha just watch this video. His positional sense, anticipation, timing and they way he keeps difficult things simple are second to none.
Jason Steele of Middlesborough has been quality so far. Rob Green has returned from injury and had a stormer against Hull at the weekend.
DAVID JAMES - BRISTOL CITY JULIAN SPERONI - CRYSTAL PALACE are duly elected. Next keeper with a second vote get's third spot!
That's it! Final Goalkeeper spot is either Joe Murphy - Coventry Stephen Henderson - Portsmouth Andy Lonergan - Leeds Paul Rachubka- Leeds Luke Steele - Barnsley Jason Steele - Middlesbrough or Robert Green - West Ham Next vote gets it
