PFA Championship Team of the Year: Kieren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday); Simon Francis (Bournemouth), Richard Keogh (Derby County), Russell Martin (Norwich City), George Friend (Middlesbrough); Grant Leadbitter (Middlesbrough); Matt Ritchie (Bournemouth), Bakary Sako (Wolves), Alex Pritchard (Brentford - on loan from Tottenham); Troy Deeney (Watford), Daryl Murphy (Ipswich Town). Interesting selections (yet again) Nice to see Rusty selected.Once again no Jonno. Weird or what?
This has got to be a joke. Can't see that Martin was one of the best 4 defenders in the championship this year.
Agreed - would love to know how that was justified. I suspect Leadbitter has found his way in to the team based on the number of goals scored, although many of them were penalties. Not sure about Westwood being the best keeper either, although he did have a blinder against us at Hillsborough
I cannot believe that Russ is in the team. Several contenders from city who I would rate higher than him. Was it a case of having to pick at least on player from each of the top teams?
None of our defence merit a place in any team of the season (maybe Bassong for his spell at Watford!!). Far too many soft goals conceded and so many individual errors. No Jonhson is a surprise but to be fair a pretty decent XI.
So the winner of both Young Player and overall Player of the Season Patrick Bamford doesn't even make the team. What a load of rubbish, what is the point of these things?
