Yiadom deal failed to materialise. The incompetence in the last minute dash is quite overwhelming.
I suppose if they really want him they could get Barnsley to pay him off, making him a free agent. The fee could then reflect that.
Montero off to Getafe on loan.
I think the reason Clement didn't push to hard on defence is he expects us to spent more time on attack and it will relieve pressure on the defence which was under siege last season .
Time will tell bob . I see no problems getting our share of points from here and a stop to leaking goals at the back .If Clement believes that he shouldn't be involved in professional football.
I agree, Routs has been a great player for us over the years but his wing play has become mediocre at best so why not try him at full back if needs demand. He's cerainly not shy of a tackle. Worked well for Oxlade at Arsenal and Milner at Liverpool, Valencia at Man U etcRouts is one of our best players left and will not play in an alien position....Our U23 players look out of their depth since promotion so i cant see them being good enough with them leaking goals left right and center. No the fact is we never did what we were suppose to do and that was put some quality into the defence and we have even made it weaker....

I like the signings, but am so disappointed that we haven't strengthened all over............
Good post.Your end thoughts were echoed in the pub I was in this evening.Reading through the thread and I think the quote above captures most peoples feelings and also highlights the real problem - strengthening all over.
To strengthen all over in one transfer window would probably cost the Club too much money. The reality is that we are now paying the price for some very poor signings and the lack of a coherent transfer strategy over the last couple of seasons.
I think the signings are a step in the right direction, but it will take time to catch up to where we were three or four seasons ago.
The sale of Kingsley and the failure to sign a right back due to poor administrative work are both criminal offences...in footballing terms!
We were in a mess when the season ended and we are still in a mess but hey we made a profit for the shareholders.....
You could not make it up....If he does well valley then our coaches must be poor that they failed him.Let's hope Montero has a decent season and Getafe want to buy him next year.
