The bookies have us mid table... http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/next-season
Think you're a bit low, although you are in turmoil, and surely the bookies would be wary of what happened with Leicester last season. Also not as sure of the Warnock factor as they seem to be.
Think it's about right for us, afterall, we;ve had two seasons of obscurity behind us and now we've got the unwanted managerial situation that we find ourselves in.
We will go out further. Thats a book without the other 2 relegated premiership sides. You would be mad to take the odds of any side in that list until you know who is coming down and what state they are in financially.
It's about right for how things stand now, I expect it to be different in August for most sides in the league once everyone has their squads together. Hopefully for us it'll be higher than midtable.
Odds will change as events unfold....always feel its best to be a bit under the radar and then its even better when we get automatic promotion!
Surprised people are agreeing with this. They won't be far off with our finishing position but I don't see why Leeds are 2nd favourites. I'm not convinced Brighton will be quite as good as last season and I'm surprised they've put both Charlton and Wednesday ahead of us. Granted Norwich and Southampton have done it of recent times but it can't happen every year... can it?
I don't know about Charlton, but Wednesday are ahead of us as there's more Sheff Wednesday fans than City fans and the odds have nothing to do with chance and everything to do with maximising profits/minimising risk for any possible outcome. What is surprising me is that it's 0-0 almost at half-time in the Newcastle/Man City game and Skybet have got Man City odds on to win, with Newcastle 4/1.
You never see a poor bookmaker - Terrible odds for Leeds all things considered, it doesn't matter who Warnock brings in, expecting a team to hit the floor running is always hard. Interesting they have Charlton and Sheffield the same price.
And that's despite that div from Manchester that every few years pays out on the runaway leader in the PL in February only to see them **** it up.
If the Wendies are 25/1, and we're longer odds (33/1?), we must be worth an e/w bet, about 8/1 to finish top 3 or 4?
I suspect Wendsday's odds are on the back of Norwich and Saints both getting back to back promotions. They're a bigger club than both of those to and should have some money to spend.
ahhh Wednesday i once called them a fluffy club and got grief for it ... anyway i think our rank is about right especially as there will be nowt between 6th-12th places .
I doubt it's the Warnock factor, it's the Leeds factor. If he'd taken over us we'd still be mid-table in most neutrals' predictions, we always are and people always have Leeds quite high up because they used to be quite good. That said, I can't argue with there we are because of this managerial situation but Brighton and Leeds are ridiculously high (I do fear that Warnock will have an effect on Leeds, he won't ignore the defensive weakness, but I can't see him getting them that good that quickly). I think Brighton are more likely to get relegated than promoted next season. I hate to say it but I can see Charlton having another good season and probably the other promoted teams too.
We were about 6th - 10th with the bookies before this season, and that was with a stronger squad than we currently have.
