Massive this is arguably the best game on our board, without 3 or 4 games / predictions this board is dead!
I didn't and still have not got the time yet to read past the first 20 posts on that thread, but in those 20 I read it is all based on the occasional splurge of concentrated games in a short period of time and peeps having to go away etc. maybe we should close down our board altogether? of the number that used to post it is less than half of 3 or so years ago and "newbies" can be counted on 1 hand, and do not really stick ...oooooops should say stay as sticky seems to a wrong'un!
John they don't want it as it was, shiny asked them the question, he got his answers and acted on it, no stickies, the games to float up and down on demand, the more topical and important threads will gain prominence unless you spend time bumping your own up. I with drew mine and massive has made the same decision because we both realised its not worth the time and effort, sorry mate but it is the new thinking.
Well, just had our usual coffee morning and the concensus is the lack of competitions has had a detrimental effect on the quality of our board! jury is out on stickies ...........a) as it was bandied about that interest/ entering/ should have the effect of keeping things in the lime light ....b) by having competitions stickied it was a reminder and peeps didn't have to keep reading them if they didn't wish to. one comment was It seems to have taken away the need to visit the board, to do an entry, so less time spent /times visted are less so less interaction .... ***note A rough analysis showed a lack of response especially if you take out OS threads and repetitive IQ zero type one, although the word game was simplistic it did get a few hits from different peep's Most often only the top 3 or 4 lines show a response.... *** it was noted that an almost 100% response to guess it compo since the "BAN" has resulted in quite a few missing out, and PM's getting last minute responses.
John, I still join in and have a go, now and again but interest has waned, so even I have given up after 8 years, there is still a few stalwarts but you must admit it has gone very quiet, the board is now nice and tidy and more easily managed.
since shinys dislike to stickies and comps causing their demise its good to see the board has been packed with new exciting idea's, threads and attracted new fans.
I cant believe the cheek of some of the new ideas, and just cant get to terms with the number of newbies flooding the portals to join us. After the holidays I have some a few new ideas / threads.. problem solving in geo thermal fault zones, interstellar radiation and effects on near earth satellites from solar radiation bursts. Breeding meal worms to feed wild birds in February and Badgers v hedgehogs another reason we should re locate as opposed to exterminate badgers ..........
an exciting new idea for 2018 we all start a thread on one of the other championship boards, viz, EG say the Cardiff board about the state of the Welsh economy and the push by Welsh farmers to promote mutton. Years ago it was at least a weekly part of most peoples diet. Not to be confused with lamb it has its own taste and texture. The real constituent of shepherds pie ...... a sheep [ewe] is expected to last about 10 years and have anything from 10 to 20 lambs! happy new year
