Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle has won the PFA Fans' Championship Player of the Season award, ahead of Chris Wood and Anthony Knockaert. Over 40,000 votes were cast in the poll, which was held on the Sky Sports website and apps, and Gayle came out on top with 14,705 votes ahead of Leeds striker Wood, who received 9,707 votes. Brighton winger Knockaert finished third with 9,214 votes ahead of Bristol City striker Tammy Abraham (4,709), Huddersfield midfielder Aaron Mooy (1,579) and Reading's Yann Kermorgant (986). The top six were chosen by our expert panel, which included Sky Sports pundits Paul Merson and Peter Beagrie, Mike Riley - general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, and Malcolm Clarke - chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation. Well done, teethy boy. Somewhat underserved cos hes only been fit half the season, but has smashed it when hes been fit. Tammy Abraham would have been a more worthy winner
