This is an interesting one, it gives you all the away ground capacities and average away distances for the Championship 2015/16 season. Just hover above the graph bar. http://www.myfootygrounds.co.uk/LeagueMap.asp?League=CHAMP 'Av a luk...
21,000 ? Isnt that what it was before the East End came down and while the Williams was still inhabitable ? Capacity this coming season is around 16,000 I thought
Obviously not updated on our new stadium, still a good bit of a guide though, it even gives you a local hotel list.
With 27_000, we would still not be in the coming seasons top ten of capacity. In fact below half way.
But at 27,000 we will still have more capacity than some Prem teams like Stoke, Bournemouth, Swansea, Palarse
The Britannia Stadium holds 27,743 fan, I know it's only 743 but that's still 743 more than 27000 in my book. Plus don't they always nearly fill it regularly. We might be getting a 27000 seater stadium but I for one won't be happy until we are at least regularly getting 25000 plus in there. Last thing I want to see will be another Ricoh or Riverside stadium, 16000 in them just get dwarfed by the size of the grounds.
How nice it is to know we will be plying our trade in front of more than 3,000 people at every ground we visit this season. When I read the statistics for our successful season of 2014/15 I dismay that we were forced to play in front of away crowds that were mind bogglingly low. I know that League One is considered to be a division where struggling teams (financially) have to pit their wits against some teams that have had a much higher pedigree, and the associated budget required to help them move on upwards, and yet I wonder sometimes how they can survive, yet alone thrive on such sparse crowds. It will be nice to be back in the land of real football and I'm sure that our travelling hordes will be up to the task.
When you look at some of the away crowds last season it is indeed a wonder how some of them can survive let alone prosper. I'm talking about the likes of Crawley, Oldham, Rochdale, Scunthorpe, Colchester, Orient, Crewe and co.
