We get one mention... Breakthrough player: Sam Clucas (Hull) After just one season with Chesterfield, Clucas joined Hull last summer. He has proved to be a key player for the Tigers, featuring in all but two of their 46 league games and scoring six goals. Hull start their play-off campaign with a first-leg trip to Derby on Saturday, live on Sky Sports. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-adam-clayton-anthony-knockaert-scoop-prizes?
Best could still be to come too from Sam. Wouldn't it be great if he banged in the winner at Wembley to put to shame all the nobs calling him Clueless..
Little Sam has done remarkably well considering the step up he made and what we paid for him. The experience the lad has achieved with City wthis season will hopefully help the lad push on for the consistency needed at a higher level. Unfortunelty for Sam,he has become another scapegoat for our ever growing majority of cyber warriors who dispite scrambling for play off tickets for the home leg, take great pleasure in condemning everything about the club when we go a goal down or don't score a hatful against so called lesser opponents unworthy in there opinion of rubbing shoulders with the great Hull TIgers. You know who you are. Bruce IN..OUT,shake it all about ?
I like Clucas, he shows a lot of promise and he's got it in him to be a good player. He's just struggled for form recently and he's rightly lost his place in the team. See no reason why he shouldn't get back in the team in the future.
****ing sensational player Clucas. At least it's recognised by experts in the game and not the thick ****ers that boo him off the pitch or repeatedly refer to him as Clueless. Well done Sam - keep it up.
He's done well but sensational is a bit silly. You're doing what you did with Alex Bruce and going a bit OTT in defending a player who gets criticised unfairly.
You see it's not silly, it's my opinion. For £1.3m he has been sensational. I thought you were boycotting home games? Are you now telling me you've been to games to make this assessment? or are you basing it on computer game ratings or third party reviews, just asking. 6 goals and 8 assists - joint top in assists in the Championship. Please note the ex-professionals comment, he's probably also at least watched him this season. "In the first half of the season, he could have been a candidate for player of the season, he was exceptional in everything he did."
He only faded when the rest of the team faded. He has as many assists as Andre Gray and he cost less than a quarter of the price and scored 6 goals in the process, for a winger.
21 home games 15 away games Off the derby but not to the home leg ****ing Allams have managed to piss me off when usualy NOTHING pisses me off.
Clueless wasn't cheap or sensational. How many league one players cost £1.3m? How many championship clubs hve £1.3m to spend all summer never mind on just one player. He was good for a long spell through the middle of the season, but if we find ourselves in the premier league next season I do not think he'll come close to cutting it. He's slow, he's weak, his positional sense is awful, he can't get by a man (his attempts at stepovers look like he's having a fit), he can't even get a cross past the first man.
Clucas turns 26 in September and has spent his career in the lower leagues. Hull City and the Championship being the highest he has achieved. If he was going to improve he would have done so before now. If we reach the Premier League I doubt he would get a game as he is way, way out of his league at that level. Puts a shift in but is a bit erratic (imo) with his passing and the odd shot but nobody can take away the fact that he has scored 6 goals and 8 assists which is commendable at this level. If we remain in the Championship he will feature next season but we really do need better.
Ah yes Sam Clucas, the lad who will never make the step up to PL, reminds me of another lad a few years ago that was written off in every league, every time we were promoted. Now people are crying out for an Ashbee type player.
Clucas was great in the first half of the season, but poor in the second, he hasn't had a good game for months. He's a bit like Meyler, in that his stats are actually better than his performances. His biggest problem is that he's a jack of all trades, but master of none. He's not really a left winger, he's decent in central midfield but we've got better options, he's got a decent shot on him, but he's not a striker, he's definitely no left back, so where do we play him? He's a decent player to have in the squad, as he can do a job in several positions, but I doubt anyone wants him in the starting XI tomorrow.
Who is crying out for an Ashbee type player? An "all 4 divisions" player but was lost in the Premier League.
Thanks to the kindness of others and a couple of work giveaways I've actually managed to see 9 home games this season despite not paying for any. I'm not criticising him at all. I just think sensational was taking it a bit far. He reminds me a lot of Garcia except left sided. If we go up he'll become even more of a boo boy like Garcia did
Richard is still playing here in Oz where he is currently the Captain of the Perth Glory side in the Australian A League.
