If it was still 0-0 after 75 minutes then I doubt they would have been as good, they'd have been more like the Derby fans on Boxing Day. Scoring those two goals so early fired up their fans and they did a good job after that.

Derby is a football town. Anyone who went to the Old Baseball Ground will tell you it was one of the best atmospheres they have experienced with all four sides of the ground joining in.

Went twice in mid 80s with City, nowt special then as they were in doldrums.

Pitch was bab too.

Went in the late sixties when they were on their way up. The season they Went up we played them home and away on a night. 24,000 for both games but the atmosphere at the Baseball Ground knocked the one at BP for six. Though the atmosphere at BP was far better than we get nowadays. Just looked those games up and the ome game is another example of City's up and down support. The previous home game on a Saturday against Bolton had a crowd of 13,000, the midweek game against Derby had 24,000 (we had 2 away wins inbetween) then following a very good win against them it dropped for the next home game against Huddersfield who brought a decent following of 21,000.
Never went to the League Cup game there the season after but people I know who did said the atmosphere was incredible.

Pitch was indeed bab. A toss up with Elland Road as to which was the worst. Maine Road was crap too. It would be interesting seeing modern day footballers trying to play in those conditions.
