The first legs of the semis are tomorrow and Wednesday night. It's Bayern v Barca tomorrow and Dortmund v Madrid Wednesday. Really looking forward to these ties, Bayern are on fire so Barca will have to be at their best to get to the final. I love watching Dortmund play as well, they have some quality players, Lewandowski, Reus, Gotze, Hummels are a few. I reckon it will be a Bayern Munich v Real Madrid final.
I wish I could be a purist in my love of football, but I have to have an interest. The CL is boring to me now...sorry.
It's just got more interesting with the announcement that Götze is to join Bayern. Seems an awful time to announce that for Dortmund. What will happen if they meet in the final? How can Götze be trusted to give his all against a team he is due to join?
I thought the same, by all means sign it, but have a little respect for Dortmund & release the info when all is said & done.
Lewandowski is all but done as well apparently. I can't see Dortmund getting to the fine now moral must be so low atm.
They had to, Bilge had already told every one about the transfer. Dortmund had to respond to all the people/ fans asking them if it was true.
I suppose. In the worst case you could agree the move in principle but wait to sign.......then do you ligaments on the very same day. Ouch. Just feel for Dortmund, after such a promising season, I can see it starting to fall apart.
Of course he will but you can't underestimate the subconscious effect something like that would have. The people you're playing against will be your teammates for the foreseeable future, that has to make it hard to give 100%. What if you win in controversial circumstances? What if you badly injure one of them? You could really alienate your future teammates, fans, etc. Just look at Benitez for the effect you can have on future employers by being successful against them! Not to mention the effect on the rest of the Dortmund players of course.
Gotze will want to win the CL this season for himself and Dortmund. He'll be giving 100% if they meet in the final. Bayern Munich winning the CL would achieve nothing for him. He has nothing to do with it. No sane player goes around injuring players on purpose anyway so they'd have to be stupid to hold that against him if it happened. The only time I would see this being a problem is with two teams fighting relegation. You're not going to want the team you're about to join to get relegated. When it's trophies it's about the current side and the current players.
This is'nt football manager you know. Why on earth would their morale be low? They're in a Champions League semi-final!!!
Nah in Football Manager he would of gone to Saints .Anyways back to your question. Of course moral willl take a hit, probably why Bilge released the info now as it is seen as a pro Bayern source. To lose a player they have had since 9yrs old and to their rivals isn't really going to make them happy isit?
It won't make a one diffrence to the rest of the team, they have a chance to win the most prestigious club competition in the world. If anything they will be happier than ever.
I'm not saying he would deliberately injure someone anyway, but if you're really 100% dedicated, you can do things which the other side find distasteful occasionally. He won't want to do that and will necessarily be compromised by facing his future employers.
I'm really disappointed in Gotze. To me, he's completely sold out. I have so much respect for Dortmund and the way they operate, with a high-tempo, attacking game, and a strong focus on youth policy. With the ability and youth of their team, I really thought they could become the best team in the world within a few years, knocking Barcelona off their perch. However, with Lewandowski and Gotze seemingly moving for the money and/or short term success, this dream seems to be vaporizing, and I'm really disappointed with their lack of commitment.
It is a shame, but Bayern's wage bill is 3 times what Dortmund's is. Nobody else in Germany can compete with them.
