Apologies if this would be better off in another thread but, as many as 5 ex-Man Utd players are likely to feature in the Champions League semi final tie between Juventus and Real Madrid. Oh what could have been! Let's see how the old boys get on....
Customary goal for Ronaldo. Great play from Tevez to make the first goal and win the penalty for the second. Hernandez looked lively when he came on. Good control and passing. Evra was solid. Setup well for the 2nd leg.
Bale was woeful - still he can't play if his team mates refuse to pass the ball to him. What was all that about - at least a dozen or so times he was in good space yet they would pass the ball to anyone but Bale. Don't they trust him with the ball, don't they like him - if so, why even play him. On that evidence you certainly wouldn't want him to join us in the summer.
It was very strange and I noticed the same thing. He'd move into space as he wasn't getting any ball and all of sudden they'd switch it as far away from him as possible. Whenever Ronaldo made a little dart forward they tried to find him but whenever Bale did nobody cared. He was playing as a striker when he isn't one and saw much more of the ball when Hernandez came on and he could move out wide. At that time he also gave a decent cross just over Ronaldo's head. What I've seen of him so far at Madrid is that he's being completely misused. Still wasn't the worst player on the pitch. Ramos takes that title easily. Shocking performance.
Both teams have had glorious chances to score. Lewondowski doesnt look sharp. A billion broken bones in your face does that to you I guess.
Both Suarez and Lewondowski have fluffed or fcked up every attacking move they've been on the end of. Idiots.
Schweinsteiger looks fat and unfit. His attempt at sprinting during one of Bayern's break away attacks was hilarious. Muller is such a good player. Nothing flash about him, he's just so efficient and effective in almost everything he does. Outside of Ronaldo and Messi he'd be the one player I'd love to see at United.
