I've just got an email from Club Wembley, asking if I'd like to buy any additional seats for the Champions League Final. The seats are on the Club Wembley level and are in the corners or behind the goal, so would normally be the cheaper of the Club Wembley seats. Included with the tickets are drinks, a buffet lunch and a match programme. And they're 'only' ã3,480 per person.
No, I already got a pair for ã450 in the Club Wembley ballot, but I let them go to one of my Man United supporting customers. Something I regret now, I should have gone myself. I might go the Championship play-off final(and I've got England v Switzerland to go to in a couple of weeks)
So you could have had a pair of Club Wembley tickets for ã450 each, tickets that are now going for ã3,480 each, and you wished you got them because you now want to go???
I didn't really think it through! Though the Club Wembley ballot was just for regular tickets(bottom and top tiers), the middle Club Wembley tier is hospitality only for this game and the corporate sponsors and UEFA got all the boxes and all the sides at the sides of the pitch, so even at ã3.5k, there's only seats in the end available.
They cost between ã60k and ã270k a year, depending on the size, position and contract terms of the box(they average out at about ã120k). The boxes for ã60k are the small ones at the end and that only includes the ten core events(one of which is egg-chasing), you've got to pay extra for any of the option events, just as you do in the Club Wembley seats. Even for ã270k you don't get your box for all events, the owners of them aren't allowed in them for the Champions League Final.
The guy that told me was the father of a teamate of my son's football side. He owns his own business and was invited by one of his Multi-millionaire business associated to join him in his "personal" box at Wembley for the Man Citeh game! How the other half live!! (but not what I regard as the REAL football experience!!)
I've been in a box a Wembley to have a nosey round, but I've never watched a game from one, they're really no better than the ones at the KC. I also went to the best restaurant in there for the opening game, the bloke on the table next to me was called Russell Bartlett.
OLM, Just out of curiosity, with you flying to hong kong regularaly (can never spell that word right) and with talk of going to the best restaurant and seemingly beeing uber rich.....were you in the forbes list recently?
I only mentioned Jedward as they were the least wealthy of everyone mentioned in The Times list(Irish entertainers section), they're only worth about ã2m.
I have been going to Hong Kong for 27 years, I used be there at least 20% of the year, but I only go twice a year now, for a week each time. Accordingly, I've been to pretty much every bar, including Mad Dogs, but it's a bit of a Khazi, it's better across the road in Delaney's. More recently I've been spending my evenings in Bulldogs pub, which is right next door to my hotel and has the added benefit of having outside seating fronting the harbour, so I can have a cig with my Guinness! http://www.grtvision.com.hk/BGKLN/index.php
