    Atletico is my pseudo-proxy-Spanish team.


    (I know very little about them- and I don't actually watch any of their games... but I always want them to win in Spain... in otherwords- I'm the equivalent of a United fan for Atletico)

    OK I do not know if this is a true story or an urban legend.

    Apparently last time Athletico got to the European Cup final Pepe Reina's dad was their keeper. Athletico were winning with 70 seconds to go when a Bayern Munich player took a hopeful punt from distance probably a mixture of frustration and desperation. Pepe's dad fumbled the ball and it went in. Bayern Munich won in extra time , allegedly the reason he fumbled it was that he was so confident Athletico had won that he had taken his gloves off and given them to a nearby cameraman (a friend of his) as a souvenir.

    Anyone know if there is any truth in this story?

    If so- that ranks right up there with a couple of moments in racing:

    One where Nigel Mansell stalled on the last lap of a race- because he was so confident of winning he had slowed down and was waving to the crowd. Similar thing happened in Formula 2 at Monaco... forget who was winning- but he pulled over to the pit wall to wave and celebrate with his crewe and Nicolas Kiesa came from around the corner and over took him right over the line.

    Meh... I voted to see the poll result, not the least but shocked. I really hope atletico win cos frankly how real are not in ffp trouble is beyond reason key alone commenting on the hateful Ronaldo, pure scum bag peoe and the arrogance of Ramos never mind the vastly over rated run Forrest run they bought off spurs

    Frankly I think atletico winning it would be lauded as a victory for football in many quarters
