with our luck recently .. we will land the hardest Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid instead of Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk or Porto .. although those 3 are good sides as well
Sevilla can be a difficult side to beat. Despite getting thumped 5-1 by Real Madrid in their last game they are an attacking, aggressive side. If they follow their usual form they will go for it at home and then defend in numbers at OT hoping to nick the away goal
Sevilla isn't too bad a draw. Could have been worse. Genuine question here, given one of PSG or Real is out next round, are we capable of winning this comp? We won't win the league so I'd like to think we'll give it a full go. One of the many down sides to City beating us yesterday is they've enough float in the league to be able to rest players and also target the CL fully.
I reckon we are definitely capable of winning it. Have said all along, Mourinho generally only achieved what you'd expect in the league - wins it when he has the best squad, but can't overcome a better squad over 38 games. But in a two legged tie he is arguably one of the best at pulling out all the little tricks, disrupting the opponent, countering threats and just generally finding a way to get the result. Of the sides left in the comp, I genuinely think it will be one of us, City, Real, Barca and PSG who win it, maybe Juve or Bayern with an outside chance. Don't think the others have a real chance without a lot of luck. Definitely two of those in the final imo. So we just need to get past Sevilla, which we should given how much they have struggled against any decent side this season, and hope we get a decent draw in the next round.
no one said they are easy, but better than Real or Bayern let us make it simple, If we can't pass them , we have no chance to progress facing tougher sides or deserve to go further. I think the draw was fair... not hardest but not easiest too
City were better than us yesterday, but both goals were lucky tbh their best 11 are playing almost every week, there is big chance they may run out of steam by end of campaign with tiredness and injuries .. especially with their style of play which involve moving around and closing down more than any other club in PL ..I've seen a stats showing how they topped the league on average distance covered by a team ..I don't think we will catch them because 11 points is alot , but I think they will run out of steam by end of season
We have little to no hope of winning it, judging by how we have performed this season against the top sides. Only hope we have is if we can go full on park the bus, and even then as our last 2 games against City and Arsenal have proved we aren't capable of stopping the opposition getting opportunities. We've got a nice draw, and I'd hope we can get past Sevilla (still not easy), but after that we are going to struggle IMO.
From playing them in the group stages they are not the team they were, this should be easy enough for you.
Easy draw for United. Sevilla play Navas and Nolito in the front three - they won't have enough to break us down. Madrid just smashed them 5-0 in the first half at the weekend. After that it's luck of the draw again and with teams like Porto/Liverpool and Shaktar/Roma in the next round United could well go further.
Absolutely. After all, it's only been what, nine years since you last reached the QF. A track record to be proud of, one fewer QF appearance than Moyes over the past eight years
I expected more resilience from you, Swarbs, me boy On a serious note, can you PM me your mob please. I've inexplicably erased it
