I know he is not our player anymore but what an absolute pathetic joke it is that he has been selected,if i'm correct he got called up once before to the u21s and then he got dropped for the next couple of games because i think stuart pearce thought he wasn't good enough yet,now all of a sudden because he's at a big club he's been selected again even though he's not played for them yet, i think it's a complete and utter joke and probabaly sums up why england do so **** all the time as all they seem to do is pick players based on what clubs they play for.Go on slaughter me and tell me to get over it but this is more about the ineptitude of the whole england set up rather than alex chamberlain.
he played for u21's a couple of times when he played for us, though a lot of managers see the club players play at as a big factor in choosing the team
Which although not perfect is a good method of choosing since they cannot scour every club for their youngsters. So Pearce has to judge the managers views as his own, and its quite sensible to choose players that the likes of Alex Ferguson and Wenger have put faith in than players than ply their trade under little known manager in the lower leagues. While It may not be the most successful or fair technique its the best available at the moment.
I don't know what on earth this is doing on our board, but if you want to bring it up then i'd suggest that he is in because the latest cycle of players is now over following the U21s EUROs this summer. All of those involved in that campaign who are now over the age of 21 can no longer be called upon, and although I haven't looked at exactly who fits into this category, I'd imagine it's a fair number of them. And obviously they need to be replaced. Every two years this happens, and now it's Chamberlain's time (and presumably a few others) to jump on the cycle. The fact that this has coincided with him moving to Arsenal I would suggest is little more than coincidence.
Don't know what it's doing on this board? it's just football related and it involves an ex saints player,it's only a topic of conversation.
I seem to remember a young chap called Theo Walcott who hadn't played for his new team and was selected for the World Cup, by another dozy bleeder. These young players have excellent potential. But at the level they are being asked to play, that's all it is.
I think this is more the case with the senior squad, but Capello's argument seems to be that he wants his players to have experience in the big matches (cup finals, Champions League etc.), and they aren't always going to get this with Championship or lower half Prem sides. A fair few championship players seem to get into the u21 side though, Lallana and Cork are good examples, or Sinclair from Swansea last season.
Of course, Adam would be a senior player for the U21s, now. What ever happened to U23s..? That's what it used to be years ago.
Prior to the EUROs this summer yes. But now he is the one of the many who are now ineligible to play for the U21s following that tournement. As I say, now that a new two-year qualifying cycle is about to commence, everyone involved at this stage much be 21 or under (how old they are in two years time, when U21 EURO 2013 comes around is irrelevant, its about being 21 or under now, at the start).
Totally agree with you. It is a joke. It would be far better to pick players who have experience of playing Championship and League One football, rather than just experience of playing in the reserves. It's the same with his team selections. In the summer, Pearce chose Danny Rose ahead of Scott Sinclair, Michael Mancienne ahead of Jack Cork and he hardly played the likes of Henri Lansbury and Tom Cleverly. It was unbelievable! I like Stuart Pearce but I think he's a pretty useless and unfair manager for the U21s.
But pretty much all the players in that squad are either first team regulars or at least regularly make the bench for their side. I don't get who you people would pick instead.
i congratulate you on showing the respect to hold back harsh words. oh and btw, stuart pearce is a useless f*cking c**tbag.
I'm not surprised that AOC has been called up and its obviously based on his time at Saints as he hasn't played for Arsenal. So I'm not offended.
to be fair, I have watched him take a couple of two hour training sessions for under 18's and he is a fabulous coach..... ..... just think management may not be for him.
