Nick on recent form and the Ice Bucket Challenge

I was delighted to see us bounce back with a good win against Wrexham on Tuesday night, following what was a truly disappointing day at Braintree on Saturday.

The players showed real character and grit to dig deep and put in a good performance in front of another fantastic home crowd of over 5,000.

Our home form has been fantastic so far this season, and we remain unbeaten at this early stage. I really hope we are able to turn the Mem into a fortress this year, but we also have to address our away performances.

We have to learn to live with playing smaller teams at smaller grounds, and the players have to stand up and be counted at away games as well as home matches.

It was pleasing to see Angelo Balanta join the squad at the start of the week. He is a player of great pedigree and will give us another creative outlet. We have been creating plenty of chances over the last few games, but we just need to be that little bit more clinical in front of goal.

We have proven goalscorers in our squad, and I firmly believe that it is only a matter of time before the goals start to come.

I would like to congratulate Lee Brown and Tom Parkes for being called up for the England C training camp next weekend. It is a fantastic achievement to be called up to represent your country at any level, and it is a huge boost for the club.

This comes on the back of international call ups for Jake Gosling, Ellis Harrison and Kieron Preston, who have all represented their countries in recent weeks.

Now the season is well underway I will be looking at hosting another Fans Forum event at the stadium. I believe the first event was a huge success, allowing people to air their frustrations and get some answers, and we are committed to keeping this channel of communication going.

Finally, I would like to congratulate Nick Day on taking the Ice Bucket Challenge live on the pitch at half time on Tuesday. I would like to confirm that I accept Nick’s nomination, and I will be taking on the challenge.

Next week we will be setting up a way that you can donate to my charity of choice for a chance to come on to the pitch and pour a bucket over me! Watch this space….

Does anyone even bother reading Higgs reports anymore?

We always used to moan that we never got any info from the board but fair shout, a few seasons ago Higgs changed this with his monthly chairmans report but by **** they seem to be the same old **** every time. He could almost copy and paste every one and just change the name of the manager and the team that just beat us. <doh>

The ice bucket challenge isn't even a challenge. All you have to do is sit down.

Anyway, I all for raising money for charity, but isn't done in the most stupid ways?
