I just managed to find this on the official site which are the chairman's notes from the programme against Oldham. Some interesting things in there but what really caught my eye is the sessions he's offering to fans to come in and ask him any question they like regarding the club. Just wondered if anyone else saw this and were thinking of attending. If you are it would be good if you could report back on here with Mr Scally's answers. I know a few of you still want some answers regarding the season-ticket issue and this could be your opportunity to ask him the question. Here's the link for anyone who hasn't read them: http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/chairman-231113-1197248.aspx
The Gills PegLeg - Interesting. I had been supplied with part detail previously but can't remember seeing it to this content. As people will know on here I'm in general support of our Chairman, however, some aspects of communications out of the club do amaze me...so if they are trawling the websites, I might as well take the opportunity for a few thoughts/questions: It comes in two parts: Part 1; I am rather upset that a standard business response in regards to ST Holders was deemed appropriate. It does not fit with the customer charter in my own personal opinion. The ST is clearly not suited to all, I can accept that but the basis of my complaint is that I was not aware there would be overriding of common practice until AFTER I had been given my ST by the club. Especially as the club extended for a week the deadline for discounted tickets due to huge demand. I would question if the club knew at this time, the actions a foot regarding the assurance of compliance. Otherwise why was i not given my guidance letter until AFTER collection and being handed my ST? I have never gained in part or whole on any product belonging to Gillingham Football Club. It comes down to one honourable word called TRUST. Part 2; For this part, I should clarify, I paid for two adult ST's one for me and one for my son: Currently a pre paid match day ticket holder, can give their ticket to absolutely anyone. Without reason or check. That same individual does not require an ID card. Yes, I am aware I can go to the club and exchange a friends for a fiver voucher if either me or my son cannot make a game, but firstly it is the inconveince to do so, the ticket office would not process the transaction any other way. Secondly I potentially lose the benefit of a £15 saving incentive. But more importantly through all its literature can the club please direct me to where it clearly states I will be charged the sum of £5 for exchanging an already paid for ST stub as well has handing over a friends for a fiver voucher. I realise now that I should have just used a friends for a fiver and not have mentioned the ST stub. The transaction would have been identical for exactly the same price and would have resulted in the club having an empty seat. ie my ST exchange transaction takes just two seats, whereas for exactly the same price I could have taken the occupation of three seats just by holding on to the original match day stub. Also can someone tell me what is a 'Guest' ticket? I'm yet to see one. On all the above points, I've checked my ST book, I've checked the letter and I have checked the large A4 size brochure, there appears to me to be either discrepancies in terms of wording and lack of clear and complete guidance in whole re transactions in relation to all of this literature. To me that is important as a consumer for transparency. I understand what the club was trying to do and do not need explanation on that...despite using a sledge hammer to crack a nut. I'm more interested in the finer points, to which I have highlighted above.
Very good points brb which brings me to this question, are you going to go to one of the walk in sessions and pose the big man those questions yourself?
No, I have not considered doing so at this time, however, I did send him an email regarding the above on 18th August 2013, sent via [email protected]. I have never received a response. I also sent a separate email DIRECTLY to Paulo and never received a response. The first email contained my personal details for our Chairman. Plus the club know my personal details anyway...ask Lindley's and the ticket office, who have both previously contacted me, the latter about boxes pre season, where they must have searched the data base to find me via my email address details to get my telephone number...lol
I will not be going to these 'clinics'. Like brb I have sent e mails to the club - without response to sensibly constructed queries - and advice to enhance the revenue of the club. I have no problem if the club dismissed my points - but found it discourteous to receive no reply. brb Mr. Scally has received a whole host of questions, from various sources. I should think that, by now he has the 'complete' range - and has prepared an answer for each scenario. Rather than offering for each fan the opportunity to inconvenience themselves at a very busy time for everyone, why can't he address the questions, concerns and criticisms via his 'Chairmans notes' article ? - that way ALL fans can be given answers ! ( and in keeping with his charter promises ) It does appear that there is a culture of 'miscommunication' at the Club ( Rememberance Sunday disgrace ) - the procedural cock-up involving Mr.McCammon to name but two. I'm not sure that I could trust Mr.Scally to be transparent - to give you all a flavour of what I mean ------- I now read that Mr.Scally is setting the wheels in motion to (try) to obtain investment from anywhere on the planet - so what has happened in the years that he has been based in the Middle East ? - when I thought he told us that he was looking for investment in that area !!! I'm not trying to be obstructive - but using the above example as why I too have a problem with TRUST. How can I believe what I now hear ? I have genuinely been waiting in anticipation of our club benefitting from some silly money that appears to exist for English football - not just in the Premier League - perhaps I have been too naive.! ( eternal optomist - despite my pragmaticism )
The Gills PegLeg - but we have asked him. Myself and alwaysright have addressed emails in to the club re our concerns with our private details and we are both still waiting individual responses. Sometimes the reasons these problems escalate is because of the non responsive. I know Paulo's email address is correct and i know the info address is correct, so like alwaysright why no individual response to our specific queries. I find it amazing that when I queried prices about boxes as indicated earlier in this thread they were proactive enough in finding out who i was then. The difference being this time I actually gave them my customer number! CUSTOMER CHARTER: Customers should contact the relevant department of the Club with their questions, feedback or complaints and it will be that department's manager's responsibility to ensure that all issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Read more at http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/club/customer_charter.aspx#5PjZJkk5yz8R9bvE.99 Also I want to define a point I made earlier, this is an extract from a link on the club website: However, I am pleased to state that in the event you cannot attend a game but wish a family member or friend to attend in your place they can do so. To do this you can utilise your Friends for £5 vouchers in your season ticket book. Please visit the ticket office to do so where the £5 Friend Voucher and relevant Match Voucher will be exchanged for a £5 guest ticket. This guest ticket then needs to be produced with the season ticket book and ID card by your family member or friend to gain entry. Read more at http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.c...to-st-holders-943094.aspx#gwJSASu1Ka3cE13f.99 So i repeat again: What is and has anyone ever seen specifically a guest ticket? The wording 'exchanged' is used not purchased? Quite simply put if the wording is meant to be 'purchased' which in my opinion i don't believe, then why do i need my match stub, i might as well solely use the FfafV. It makes no sense. I hasten to add that there was a member on here...was it Dammo?...who stated and defended the policy preseason stating he had been told preseason it was an exchange...only later to find was a purchase! ................................... I haven't even started on Lindley's.
Sorry brb but I'm with PegLeg on this one, forget all the individual gripes your main gripe is the lack of communication/response from your emails, so go along face to face with Scally and ask him why your emails aren't being answered. Simples
lol...my time and effort eh rather than the club following up genuine queries as any other reputable business would do. When are these meetings scheduled...date and time? Maybe you grumpy or The Gills PegLeg would like to come along to accompany me if i were to go, or am i only the only one with the balls to speak up and face him. At least i did genuinely follow my complaint up several times with the club DIRECTLY. I could take along all my Lindley's correspondence as well
I didn't mean to upset you fellas. Just meant as in Mr Scally is giving you the opportunity to put him in a corner and answers everyones questions. He can't refuse to answer them because he's putting these sessions on so it really gives you the opportunity to answer your queries. Brb - right at the very bottom of the link I posted on the op. I will go as moral support but would need some dutch courage first haha
You've not upset me mate. Fair enough debate. However, I originally assumed these meetings were aimed at keyboard warriors who personally and wanton attack our Chairman. Whereas mine are genuine supporter experiences, views and validated in description accordingly.
He wouldn't give you a straight answer if you went anyway. The whole thing is a willy waving competition, expect a snarky reply from the man himself in the program in Jan when he says nobody showed up.
Sorry mate I missed that bit. Give us a date and time and i'll see what we can sort out if you want too. What does make me angry though, I've saw comments somewhere re people hiding behind pretend names, I wonder how long everyone has got to discuss this one! Maybe some research for anyone that makes those style of comments re internet safety. My footballing and virtual friends know who i am in reality and you have met me as well The Gills PegLeg. But as all my friends know it is done privately with discretion, because that is my choice. If people want to see that as hiding behind pretend names, than so be it, but i guess most people that have met me would know me better than that.
brb I'd be more than happy to come along, if you and PegLeg get something sorted with a date time then let me know. p.s. would it be worth emailing the club with my biscuit preference.
Fair enough grumpygit...if The Gills PegLeg comes back with a date and time will see what we can sort. If its ok with you lads i would much prefer to sort any arrangements solely between the three of us behind private messaging. With the exception of course if my mate alwaysright wants in...make a nice cosy foursome...lol
