http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/chairmans-letter-160913-1056972.aspx Very interesting letter from Mr. Scally urging fans to be more positive and dispelling rumours that he hasn't spent money this summer. Quite interesting to look into the timing of it, feel a loss this weekend could trigger some very interesting developments.
Personally I've never as such commented on Scally's spending, mainly because imo I felt MA had enough finances last season, surely highlighted in media reported words smashing league one. I've also not heard any booing or comments to towards players other than natural move your ass stuff. I think the supporters have been very understanding and I've currently attended every league game this season. Although when it comes to sticking together, the same does not imo seem to have been applied in the same good gesture of will with my ST and non response to my email.
The only person I know that has gone on about finances is MA, he is always saying about the spending power of other teams and how nice it must be to have money, or how he has player targets but Scally is the one who decides whether the money is available. (is there trouble in the camp) I don't do twitter or face thing but have seen very few over the top comments on fans forum, yes plenty of people are expressing concern over results but why wouldn't they when results are so bad, Scally and MA take a wage from the club and leave when they've had enough, I am on a life sentence and will pay thousands for the privilege over a lifetime. This looks as if Scally knows the team are not good enough (as well as possible internal disagreements) and is trying to placate the fans aware that we're in for a tough season.
How would Mr. Scally know if there is dissent /booing etc - Does he actually go to all the games ? - I have. Whilst I may not be able to hear every criticism ( or every praise ) from all parts of the ground - I defy Mr.Scally to give details of any occasion where there has been excessive / disproportionate complaint from the crowd ( as a whole ). Mr.Scally must live in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks that the recent efforts wouldn't attract any criticism. I think he must be forgetting who actually is paying the wages. I wonder what Mr. Scally would say If he contracted services of 'professionals' on 9 different occasions over the course of a few weeks - and if on each of those occasions the 'professional' got it wrong ? - a damned sight more than the patience that has been shown ( thus far ) by the fans.
When I saw the statement on the OS,I thought Allen had been sacked. But it was nice of Scally to talk to the fans, and I do agree that a fantastic atmosphere on Saturday will really help the Players.I won`t be at Priestfield until MK Dons, but non stop singing like Plymouth at home last season could really get the players pumped before kick off.
