Balram Chainrai has been named by Trevor Birch as one of two interested parties in the running to take over the club. Birch also added that the Supporters Trust bid is not the other interested party. I'm sorry to say that I'm not filled with confidence. If Balram Chainrai once again becomes "reluctant owner" he will be more interested in protecting his investment than rebuilding the club. I would be ever fearful of an asset stripping project to recoup as much money as possibe, followed by a "reluctant sale" of the club for £1 to any-one crazy enough to take over what's left. While I'm admirable of the efforts of the Pompey Supporters Trust, I feel (although I admit my knowledge is less than those of you on Portsea Island!) that their way forward would be best suited to a phoenix club following the liquidation of Portsmouth Football Club in its current entity. I think we're stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea here. That said, I sincerely hope the outcome simply proves me to be a pessimistic miserable old sod!
We've known for a long time that Chanrai is one of the interested parties - purely because he intends to protect his "investment". As a businessman he knows that the value of an investment can fall as well as rise. To be fair he has said he will take a drop in price, whether that's enough of a drop???? Chanrai will just be a breathing space.......... as well, as Dev points out, as an asset stripping project. All power to the trust, but their communication skills are not good and I find it hard to have any real faith in their ability to raise the funds and run the club. I still think we are in for a lot more turmoil yet.
BC is the option of ' last resort'. He placed us twice into Administration to protect his 'investment' and I am not sure what there is left to asset strip, apart from some of the players. He is bad news, but maybe our only viable option.PUP
If Balram Chanrai is one of the potential buyers, then one can only fret at the outcome of his ownership in say 3 to 6 months time Let us just hope the other potential buyer is a genuine footbal fan, for all PFC supporters state of minds PUP PPU
