Seems Jose has been impressed with what he has seen of Fab so far in pre season....... Jose Mourinho has expressed his surprise at being able to sign Cesc Fabregas this summer and believes he will be the key to the Blues title charge next season: I always thought Cesc would stay a Barcelona player,â he told reporters after a 3-0 friendly defeat to Werder Bremen on Sunday. âIt was him feeling so strongly about coming back to English football, a bit like me. I was in a big club, Real Madrid, and wanted to be back. "He was at a big club, Barcelona, and wanted to be back. When we heard that he wanted to come back to London, we knew he was the last one we wanted." Fabregas was something of a talisman for Arsenal when he was their captain and was probably the most effective attacking midfielder in the Premier League while at the Gunners. Mourinho has certainly been impressed by Fabregas from what he has seen so far this pre-season and all but declared he would be the focus point of the teamâs attacking play because of the talents he brings to the table. Arsene Wenger built his team around Fabregasâ passing ability and eye for a goal in the final third, before the youngster demanded a move to his former club in 2011, and it seems as though Mourinho has come to realise he will have to do something similar. Cesc everywhere "I see him everywhere, because he can play everywhere,â said Mourinho when quizzed over where he planned to deploy the man he purchased this summer for £30million. âHis best quality is the speed at which he analyses the game and executes. He's very intelligent. And gives you goals. â[Fabregas is] the missing piece of our engine. He has a football brain we need in our team. All the players have a fantastic feeling around Cesc. They really feel that he sees football too fast. âIt is so rare that he loses the ball or makes a wrong decision. He can accelerate the intensity of the game, or he can reduce it." Mourinhoâs words will not be pleasing hearing for Arsenal fans, many of who were angered at the clubâs refusal to take up the first refusal option they had written into the deal that took Fabregas to Barcelona from Emirates Stadium. Fabregas admitted his desire was to re-join the north London club where he made his name, but that he chose the best offer from the capital after Wenger made it clear he would not be paying the money for his former charge.
I'm relaxed about having him on our team! Who'd have thought a month ago that he'd be wearing Chelsea blue and Lamps would become a Manc?
I thought he'd be a brilliant signing when the rumours were flying around and even more convinced now. If he can avoid injury Im betting he'll be our player of the year alongside Eden.
Hope jose's plan comes to fruition. Oscar Matic and Cesc in the same team? Dreamland mate, im there!!!
He probably will get injured at some point during the season... they don't call him Fabreglass for nothing... However you'll get good work out of him whilst fit- and when injured you've got plenty more great players to plug in the spot until he gets fit again.
To be fair his injury record at Barca was pretty good, he was only injury prone at Arsenal, but every player that signs for Arsenal becomes injury prone. I think Wengers training regime involves the Misery "Kathy Bates" method: please log in to view this image
I think it's the naked Y.M.C.A dance routine he makes the youth do to warm up that causes the injuries there!
He's playing in the pivot tonight against galatasary. A v strong teams out catch it on ctv if you can!!
Gutted we didn't go for him when he was available. Think him an Costa will be stars for you guys this year and will help you win the title unfortunately.
