Julio Cesar happy to still be at Queens Park Rangers after transfer window closed By Paulo Freitas | Last Updated: September 4, 2013 9:14pm please log in to view this image Julio Cesar: Brazil keeper has no problem still being at QPR Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar is adamant he did not consider leaving Loftus Road during the transfer window and says things have 'gone back to normal'. Cesar was widely expected to leave QPR over the summer following the club's relegation from the Premier League, and he was linked with the likes of Arsenal, Benfica and Fiorentina. He has not been involved in QPR's match-day squads this season after Robert Green was restored as first choice amid the ongoing speculation about Cesar's future. However, the 34-year-old has no qualms about still being part of Harry Redknapp's squad and does not feel playing in the Championship will affect his prospects of being part of Brazil's plans for next year's World Cup. "I didn't think in any moment about leaving QPR," Cesar, who made 26 appearances last season, was quoted by Globo Esporte at a press conference. "Of course, if anything came up, as it happened, it was something to sit down and talk about with the club's chairman. "But, in my head, things have gone back to normal. "I don't think I'll have to do anything different due to the fact I am in the Championship. It's a strong competition in England with competitive teams. "We play 46 games, eight more games than in the Premier League." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8906533/?
Totally this. Until Green has a howler then he deserves to play. Dropping him now would lose Arry a lot of respect from me.
I like Cesar, have far more confidence in him than in Green, but I still think that article is unbelievable. The club and his agent have been trying as hard as they can to get him out. Green has earned his place, when he cocks up Cesar will be waiting. Competition can't be bad.
How long more are we stuck with him for? He is on silly money and would be gone only for that. HOW MUCH??? I can hear it now when enquiries were being made and they heard what he is on.
Hes got 3 more years, I think he will be 1st choice if Green drops a clanger and he will, its just a matter of time. I would assume he will now be back in the 1st team squad for games.
Green and Murphy should keep the matchday squad positions. Cesar was only ever here as a way into the premier league. If he's not involved as the world cup gets closer we have more chance getting rid
Considering who we have managed to get rid off at least his quality although I think Green needs to be our No1 so what if he mistakes a few mistakes thats no different to what our outfield players can/have done in the past and we don't then necessary drop them. Green has played exceptionally well so far this season and we all know when you're winning morale is high for the players and just as important us fans too
He may have wanted to go but I never got the impression he gave less than 100%. His work ethic in training has been praised by the club. I'd welcome him back but he has to fight for his place. He has to be ahead of murphy in the interests of playing our best team. With a World Cup place to go for its in his interests to play well.
From what I've read on here, Murphy isn't very good. Cesar is a QPR player until he isn't, could make a big contribution to a big season, has every incentive to perform.
Cesar - I didn't consider move Well he is about the only person on the planet that didn't consider him moving!
Before people jump to slate the guy, I've had a search online, has he ever been quoted as saying he wants to go? Agents may have been touting him around and the club may have wanted to reduce the wage bill. He is the brazil number one keeper after all and frankly would we be surprised if he wanted to play at a higher level? I think he's kept quiet and conducted himself well. Lets move on and celebrate the fortune that sees our back up keeper as the brazil number 1!! Lighten up everyone!
he hasn't played a single minute in either pre-season or the league yet he's been playing for brazil. not only that but not even named in a matchday squad. am I missing something?
What a knob! He genuinely believes he's going to play. Bridges have been burnt, Cesar old chum. He's been whoring himself out all summer, and now expects to walk back into the squad, because he's mighty Cesar- and we're little QPR. Green is part of a current winning formulae, with a squad based on British resilience. Cesar can rot in the EDS for all I care. The loan window's still open, can't we ship him out to Arsenal?
