Cerny eyes new QPR deal By Jacob MurtaghDec 14 2011 RADEK Cerny hopes his recent displays for QPR can earn him a new deal at Loftus Road. The 37-year-old keeper is out of contract at the end of the season, but has started the last three matches after injuries to Paddy Kenny and Brian Murphy. And he admits he would like one more season in England before returning home to the Czech Republic. He told isport.cz: "We have been discussing it over and over at home - when we will finally return to the Czech Republic. I have been returning for five years now. "I arrived in London for a year but this is my seventh. I never thought I would be here so long. "If I had the possibility I would like to stay one season more. The Premier League is the best destination you can reach if you are a professional footballer."
Cerny has been great. We forget things easily. He is a good goalkeeper. Definitely worthy of being a #2 goalie. He won the golden glove for us not so long ago and has had some fine performances as of late.
Give him a new deal and let him work as a goal keeping coach and mentor to the others and as we are finding out he is still a very useful standby should we have injuries. No brainer really.
I thought murph did ok in pre-season just really unlucky to get injured the same time as paddy. however radek has been brilliant the last few games. another 1 year deal wouldn't hurt.
From his 3 games he's looked or best keeper to me this season. Think he should keep his place Sunday and he looks worth another year.
Well, I will say that Kenny was getting better and had some cracking matches, including Tottenham, I think. He pulled out those saves that only he and a few others can do. But Cerny has been very smart in his games and his reactions have been lightening.
Love all your enthusiasm guys, but the simple fact is that if he has a stinker on Sunday, people will be calling for his head very quickly. He has been a good servant to the club, but he is simply not as good as Paddy. Cerny is not the way forward guys. Take your emotions from the last couple of weeks out of it and most of you out there know i am speaking the truth. When Paddy and Murph got injured a lot of people started sweating nervously even at the thought of Cerny being in goal. The reason for the nervous reactions was that he can be a very dodgy keeper at times.A couple of good performances does not merit a new deal. Be realistic. I love Paddy and acknowledge that he has been incredible for us, but IMO if we are going to become an established Top flight team, we need a new keeper who can dominate his box. Paddy is a great shot stopper but can be poor in the air. Of course i may be wrong, but i don't think Cerny should ber handed a new deal and doubt Paddy will be our number one next year.
