Since we have several threads on the DoF and Manager vacancies, I'm surprised no one is really talking about this role. It's rumoured that Ian Ayre is set to leave the club as soon as the club finalise a replacement for him. They're happy with what he's achieved on the commercial front, but that's no longer his role. He's not the commercial directer, he is higher up the management chain and failed to lead the club through this difficult season just like Kenny, the communication director and Comolli failed to do. I only know of one name who's been 100% approached to fill 'some form of role' at the club, which is David Dein. I presume that he would fit the CEO position much better than the DoF role, so I would go on to suggest he's being lined up for Ayre's job. Problem is, he's not accepted any role at the club, despite our previous approaches and not sure if the club have recently (the last few days) tried again. Signing a manager requires a DoF, surely. But appointing a DoF must also be in part a job of the CEO / MD - currently Ayre. Is Dein being lined up so we can set the cogs into motion? I can't think of anyone better, or in fact, anyone else at all who could do the job...
He also said we hadn't even drawn up a managerial shortlist...which for me, makes zero sense at all. No one's that foolish to sack everyone at a club without even a vague list of names planned to approach.
Good points,if you're correct about Dein and Ayre it points to FSG having a plan before the season even finished, lets not forget they are ruthless money driven businessmen with no time for sentiment. Ian Ayre is a local lad and a lifelong red,if there was any skullduggery going on behind the scenes he would blow the whistle on it i reckon, and Kenny's parting words were to trust the owners with our future.
No he denied he is leaving the club, not the post, perhaps back to his old position as Commercial Director, with someone else coming in
Yeah your right 6D's,he did actually say he wasn't leaving the club, but whatever FSG's plans are for all posts at the club the sooner they get it sorted the better.
Isnt Ayre responsible for setting up the financial side of things associated with the club? If so why would he be removed from his current post, since we are meant to be in a better position at this point?
I think it would be very silly to get rid of Ian Ayre. I can understand the need to put him back in his original role as he's not done particularly well as MD. But the man is a local lad and a good commercial director and we need more people like him, helping to run the club who have the best interests of the club. I think David Dein maybe a little too old to invest a lot of time in the club, so I predict he will be used a part time consultant. Would be amazing if we did get him though. Having him as CEO/MD and Txiki as DoF would be a great structure in place (on paper at least!).
