I think the consensus amongst most fans and people who watch Utd, is that we are lacking in the central midfield area. Most want a marque signing but who is this marque signing and is he realistic? The most frequent names of late popping up in the press are Modric and Sneijder and some have mentioned De Rossi in the past. However, signing Modric will be very hard because A he does not want to leave and B Spurs won't sell him for less than 30 odd Million and I am not sure that fits with our value agenda. Spurs are a side who want to progress and they believe they are going places, so I can't see how selling one of their best players will help their cause. I believe personally that we won't sign Modric. Now the other common name is Sneidjer, the problem I find with him is that he plays a similar role to which Rooney plays and can we have both of them in our team? Furthermore, he won't go cheap and Inter don't want to sell him and he has stressed himself he won't leave. I also can't see us signing him simply because to sign him we will have to break the bank and offer a offer they can't refuse and I can't see us doing that with our value agenda. Now for the final player we are linked with. De Rossi is a good player but Ferguson has not really taken a interest into him. He would be my preferred midfielder but with our policy of not spending big on players over 27, I can't see him joining because he will be 28 soon and lacks a resale value. I can't see us signing those 3 for the reasons I have given above, I can see us signing some young talent or maybe gamble on a player like Charlie Adam but I am hoping, if we are looking at a attacking midfielder it will be Mario Götze because he is a terrific player. So who do you believe we will sign?
SAF will not sign Adam. We do need an attacking CM who can goal scores and link up with Rooney etc. However we also need a destructive DMC to put his foot in CM and give it simple to Nani, Valencia etc. The names have already been discussed. Give SAF time - be patience.
