Not much talk about us signing a center back and Soto has signed a new deal.

Carra and Agger are our best pair imo. When I look at an alternative of Skrtel and Soto it scares the hell out of me!

I would prefer us to sign a quality center back.

Ayala looks like good cover and Kelly could also play there but surely we don't have enough reliable players in this position Carra is getting on and may pick up the odd injury, Agger is very injury prone, Soto good for the long ball teams but not much else and Skrtel is a worry.

I think Kelly and Wilson have the potential to be one of the best CB pairings we have ever seen. Wilson is similar to agger in a sense that he can bring the ball out of the defence and play a pass, left footed, fairly strong and not too slow. Kelly can also bring the ball forward, is good in the air, right footed and has great athletic ability. I would rather give these guys opportunities than stunt their growth. And as for Skrtel scaring the hell out of you he played in every single league game last season and showed significant improvement under Kenny's regime, i understand the soto part.

I brought this up a few weeks ago and got shot down a bit ( in a gentle, caring way of course )- but it bothers me a little too.
Carragher is immense but can't go on much longer surely? I fear that Agger may never fully regain fitness for an extended run in the side - which is a shame 'cos he's a classy player. Can't help but admire Soto for his commitment but he's only really good enough for back-up- and he's old. Skrtel has regained form, but I still think we're a bit thin.
I've only seen Kelly on the right, where he looked great, and Wilson pushed left, where I thought he looked a bit uncertain. I'm sure there are those of you out there who've seen more of the younger lads than I have and I'll take your word on their potential. I'd like to see them played more in the centre to blend them into the team but I think they may only get their chance through injuries to the others for the time being.
I'd be happier if we had a bit more experienced back-up, but having said that I can't suggest who.

With Soto and Agger on their way out (in theory) I'd guess there's already plans afoot. We've already been linked with Johnson and Dann at Brum. They won't be the only ones KK and DC have looked at.

Unless we sell I don't really see the point in signing a centreback. It's a very low priority.

I think Skrtel is definitely good enough, I don't see the issue there. I have thought, when Liverpool were in for Phill Jones why not just bring up Wilson, also 19 with a lot of experience, into a more regular role. I think Wilson can be a top defender in a few years.

Left Back and Wingers before we start thinking about centre-backs (or centre midfielders for that matter!)

Skrtel had a trooid time when the team were having a torrid time, confidence is infectious, he's better than that, we were leaking goals. When tey're all working hard closing down space Skrtel is not so exposed and can focus on what he does best. which is NOT getting pulled right or left to the wing to get done!!

Agger is a really good player but he has been so unlucky with injury (massive shame really)
Carra is still good but he is getting on a bit now

Skrtel under Kenny has made fewer mistakes like in the beginning of the season but like mentioned the whole team were making mistakes
Now we are a unit and it showed after New Year and of course Kenny is behind that

Soto give him the physical games not the quick games because he gets caught out against quick opposition

I agree that Wilson should be pushed through

It is a shame about Agger but we've had the best sports medicine team we could have for a year now and he's still fragile.

It's also a shame for Wilson that he hasn't had a chance to prove himself where he should be but we should be giving youngsters chances as cover, like Flano and Robinson, not just so we don't have to sign somebody. I call Emiliano Insua and David N'Gog as witnesses.

Yes we have 1 of the best medicine team but sometimes even the best can't help
Now i know that he is quality but at the same time i'm starting to think to let him go (massive shame)
FSG are cutting the wage bill and i think Agger will be among the ones being off loaded

We shall have to wait and see what happens

I'm a big fan of Agger and really hope he gets fit, i'm not as sure as some of you on Skrtel though and I hope i'm wrong. Wilson is untested therefore a risk so I still think we need a center back.

I think Agger and Konchesky will go. As you fellas have said, Agger is too injury prone, on a high wage and able to command a fee. I reckon he will go to Germany and Liverpool buy Zapatta who can cover the whole defence. I expect you will get Clichy too, with Konchesky going to either Fulham or Newcastle (replacing Enruique who will go to Arsenal)

Agger is young enough for us to give him a chance to show that he can recover and play, when fit he is our best defender.
