Celtic have basically said nothing on the newco issue and many people think they should But it was pointed out to me by a diddy team fan Paraphrase "they tried to kill Neil Lennon for winning an Old Firm game, what would they do to Peter Lawell if he said let Newco die?" Can't blame them
I think Celtics plan has always been to wait it out. I heard a rumour that Celtic had prepared to resign from the spl if rangers were voted back in. They could use sporting integrity as a plea to UEFA and the epl to move to england. They are probably gutted rangers aren't getting in to be honest.
We would end up being the story, it would all be about Celtic forcing clubs to toe the line and ****e like that.
this See the Traynor pieces this week? There would've been one of those every ****ing day from then til now if Lawell had said No publicly.
Despite your obvious partisanship Mr T, you do understand that in terms of the monetary loss incurred by any club in this whole debacle, Celtic are the biggest losers. That we are in a position to withstand the budgetary pressure that may cause other clubs to fold is a complement to the financial prudence exercised by Peter Lawell and the board in recent years. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we should have something to say but as others have pointed out, the frenzied attacks we would leave ourselves open to by the rabid Scottish press would make it pointless and even counter productive.
Bollocks. Something Celtic FC don't possess. Cop out from the purveyors of so called "integrity". Lame, very lame.
They were under immense pressure from fans who were boycotting season tickets unless they made a stance
Correct. Finally the fans were listened to. If I was a Rangers fan I'd be demanding the heads of the crooks in power at Ibrox who ended the name of Rangers. These are the only people to blame.
What I cannot understand is that the previous failed flash Green thinks he will be able to persuade enough SPL clubs to change their voting stance and vote for Sevco. Who the hell give that nobody the right to speak at a SPL meeting. He is not part of the Directorship or Ownership of a SPL club. He mat have put a deposit on something but even he isn't clear what he bought and what he failed to buy. Will John Brown seek to speak as well ? Will Sany lead a March up to Hampden tomorrow ?
Obviously they are the club with most to lose but also the club with the most vocal fans. Celtic have played it correctly here. All they have stated that they do not rely on other clubs to survive. Why do they need to say more? Any decisions should have been made by the SPL and SFA without having to have a vote by the clubs. Every club was caught between a rock and a hard place - money vs fan opinion
I think Celtic have done the right thing in saying nothing throughout the whole of the rangers debacle. As the biggest rivals to the new co they have to be very careful in what they say so they are probably right not to go public. Besides everyone else is saying what they are thinking anyway! Third division......sporting integrity an a' that!
As an aside, is there a Rangers fan on here who argues that the new club they are going to support should start anywhere else other than division 3? On topic. The vote is going to fail. Celtic don't need to say a word.
