Yes, because Fanny Cradock, used to bake cakes and pies etc and at the end of the programme her husband used to always say a bit about what she had baked. On one particular episode, she was baking doughnuts and at the end of the show her husband said, " if you are trying this recipe, I hope that your doughnuts turn out looking like fannies". Oh how we all laughed at such hilarity and even now I sometimes allow myself a chortle at it. Oh, yes, I do.
What a small world it is. I bought Mini Doghnuts at lunchtime for my colleagues and I just told them that story, and as loathe as I am to correct you it did in fact take place on the Bill Tennant Show on STV in the 70s and not on Fanny's own show.
