Firstly let me just say a Happy New Year to all my fellow chelsea fans and hope you all personally have a great one ! And hope our club has! Now onto cech, Obviously after his head injury he wern't going to be the great keeper he once was but when he come back for a couple of seasons he still looked like a quality keeper but last season and so far this season has anyone noticed how his form has dipped by a lot? I can count at least 10 goals this season which he could have saved and he doesn't look as comfortable as he use to be e.g. commanding his box, his kicking, saving and catching etc. Do you think the injuries have finally taken their toll? If he carrys on at this rate i think we will need to buy another keeper at the end of the season, obviously our defence hasn't helped him out this year but it doesn't get away from the point that he hasn't really looked good this or last season and i personally can't even name him in the top 5 PL keepers at the moment. Anyone else agree/disagree?
Still remains a great keeper but has suffered this year with the sort of errors you'd expect from an Arsenal Goalkeeper.Stick in Turnball for two or three matches and make him keener.
The problem is, that since Carlo went to Spuds, we haven't had a back up keeper who can really push Cech. If you put Hilario nd Turnbull together you wouldn't get a decent keeper. As with any job, if you are not challenged then you will take things for granted and go stale. This in my opinion is what's happened to Cech. However it's not just Cech that this has happened to. Some other players are just the same.Lamps looked as though his mlnd was elsewhere yesterday and Drogba strutted about like a playground bully acting as if he owned the place. Does the manager not decide who takes penalties? Surely the players know who takes corners, free kicks etc. As the saying goes, "familiarity breeds contempt" Please bring the clear out soon and we can get back to enjoying watching Chelsea again.
Totally agree, I'm sure when we played city and lamps came on and scored the penalty AVB said after the match Mata was now actually the allocated penalty taker, so why did Drogba take yesterdays penalty? I personally think Cech,Lamps and Drogs are all taking their places for granted and working for themselves as they feel they have nothing to worry about, Lamps always puts 100% effort in but he did switch off yesterday by gifting villa the 3rd goal, but i agree with Cech i think he knows he'll never lose his place so he don't have to care that much, same with Drogba. They need a few droppings to give em a kick up the backside
Agree - I go along with the apathetic/complacent line with Cech rather than the psychological injury inflicted on him by that thug from Reading. What concerns me is not so much the performance but the lack of desire brought on by the drop in mental toughness; it seems that certain players have become bloated with their years of triumph that they no longer need to prove anything and as a result are starting to treat Chelsea as a social club. These were the same complacent attitudes which saw a slump in the great side from 1972 -74. They need to heed the quote from one of Liverpool's successful managers Bob Paisley: "You get nothing for yesterday".
