METRO - Read more: http://metro.co.uk/2017/01/13/arsenal-dealt-fresh-santi-cazorla-injury-blow-6380735/#ixzz4ZUk0JFZv Arsenal have been dealt the blow that Santi Cazorla reportedly needs a second operation on an ankle problem that has kept him out for much of the season. The Spanish playmaker started the campaign brightly for the Gunners, and has been a big loss since picking up the problem back in October. Arsene Wenger has not been clear on when the 32-year-old would return, but his latest comments suggest it is more bad news for Arsenal fans hoping to see the fan-favourite back soon. ‘Santi had a little procedure and we have a meeting with the medical people to see what it was really,’ Wenger said. ‘Certainly he will not be available in the next six weeks that is for sure.’ So basically his season was over back in October but they only realised his injury was worse recently. Typical Arsenal, they don't have a fcking clue about player injuries! But what is more annoying is that we could have dipped into the transfer market and TRIED to get a player similar to Cazorla. He is such an important player to us that since his injury, our win percentage has dropped below 50%, which is usually over 60% with him playing. He also offers something no other midfielder offers, which is integral to Wenger's passing and moving, fluid style of play.
Again, of little surprise. Indeed, there can't be much that happens nowadays that surprises anyone given it's happened over and over again for years. Mentally weak - tick Inadequate squad - tick Poor injury management - tick Tactically rigid - tick Out of CL last 16 - tick No real league challenge - tick Top 4 to keep the board happy - probably tick The only thing that's changing is that we're gradually getting more and more boring to watch as the years go by.
This is my biggest bug bear to be honest. At least when we didn't win we looked exciting, now we look formulaic and we still aren't closer to winning.
Only took us three years to break a player with a previously excellent fitness record. That's not too bad when you consider we broke Welbeck in one season.
yet again an injury that originally was meant to last a month ends up being a season ending injury. How in the world does this keep happening to us??
Interesting over the past two Seasons our win rate with Carzorla is 65.5% without him its 38.8% -That's a massive difference, in fact you could make a strong argument based on those stats that he is our most important player. (it's certainly between him Sanchez and Koscielny) Ramsey's horrendous form has also made the injury to Carzorla all the more problematic for us.
Maybe make a cheeky bid to buy Cesc on the cheap ! Santi isn't going to get any younger so will more than likely get injured again (as it is our curse on players) and we need a playmaker and Rambo and Ox aren't good enough. So sell both of them and bring back Wilshere and Cesc to alternate as the playmaker with Xhacker and Coq to alternate as holding midfielder
I'm not convinced Xhaka or Coq are good enough to be first teamers for us. We need a dominating beast in there to go next to our playmaker. Neither of those dominate. Kondogbia would be a good gamble maybe. Lost his way a bit at Inter. So we need a new central midfield IMO. Kondogbia and Isco?! I'd try and get Breel Embolo too. But above all else... personnel changes will be insignificant if they're made to play under Wenger. We need these players in and we need them managed by someone competent.
Would love Kondogbia at Arsenal. Guy has massive potential and would give us some much needed physicality. Disagree on Xhaka though - think they guy is a class act.
Should have signed him a couple of years back when he was offered to us. Still, I would take him in the squad for sure.
